1/2 big Blind Big Draw!

Hero: 20s African American female. Seen as tight aggressive. A regular at this poker room.

Villian #1 ( $600 CO) - 40s Caucasian man. Hero just played a heads up action with him last orbit. She raised in co ($170) with 44s he smooth calls in EP. Flop was K 9 4 he checks, Hero makes it $17. He makes a disgusting gesture and calls. Turn is a Q He checks Hero makes it $35. He snap says 'I'm All in' relaxed and doesnt touched his chips. Hero thinks about it and believes it is set over set and folds.. he showed the red K K .

Okay knowing this..

This is the hand

Hero is given Q 5 bb ($175)

5 limpers- 6 to the flop

Flop ($12) is 6 7 9

Check, Hero checks, check down to V1 ( CO) who makes it $11. Folded to Hero, she calls..heads up

Turn ($34)
8

Hero bets $20

Villian says All in and puts a stack out

Hero???

Thoughts on all streets appreciated

Re: 1/2 big Blind Big Draw!

I hate the donk bet with the idiot end of the straight like this. I would just check/call the turn and check/eval the river. As played I think you have to fold. You aren't getting a great price on a call and don't beat any value. The donk bet is effectively flipping your hand face up as a straight, and he is shoving anyways. He either has at least a T, strong combo draw, or is suicidal.

The physical tell stuff is hard to convey in this medium. If something about his demeanor or body language is telling you he's weak, then that's up to you to decide how much to weight it.

Re: 1/2 big Blind Big Draw!

You’re often viewed as having a much wider range of hands in V’s “rewind” when you bet this flop. So, when all the cards that drop and look to complete straights/flushes you’re donking the turn isn’t so revealing. Then again, if you are one to have the image of a floater...things are different. Bet flop. Basic reply is very basic.

Fold the turn.

If V shows a bluff here...oh well.

Nb4 ~ V had 98dd

Looks as if Hero's stack at $175.

It kind of depends on the read you've gotten. Does he always have it against others? Is he trying to scare you off? Is he trying to let you know it's time to fold?

If you don't know, call to gamble; fold to wait for a better spot.

Do not donk the turn in situations like this unless you are willing to gii.

Agree with the others, no way we should be donking turn unless we've already decided to GII if raised. You have a good bluff catcher with a FD to improve. As played, assume you'd be calling it off with just a FD, and you're not getting the right price for that. Fold.

I guess V could do that with a set of eights as well, thinking he’s blocking so many straights...I just don’t think he has any other sets?

Results?
