Hero - $500 stack young Asian tight hoodie winning image.
Villain - $150 stack on his 3rd buy in. 50 yr old Asian guy. Up to this hand, his VPIP is probably around 40. So quite loose.
Villain in EP raises to $25 ( strange sizing he never this before ) I call on CO maybe I should have put him all in? But there were people to act still so I just called didn't want to risk a reraise. SB calls as well
Flop comes

SB checks, villain bets 40, hero folded here because scared of a King or a higher pair. Should I have peeled and reevaluate here or shove?

Nothing wrong with a fold preflop.
Before you call preflop, ask yourself the question, "How am I going to get this guy's stack in this hand?" If the answer is "By flopping a set", you have to fold because you're getting the wrong price. And facing this action, the answer isn't going to be "By calling multiple barrels postflop and bluff catching".

Without having any information on how often he opens and what his normal open size is I'm just letting this go. He is opening to 1/6 of his stack. His flop bet is pretty weak but once again, with no information on his previous bet tendencies we have nothing to go off of here.

You say villain's VPIP was around 40. What was his PFR? Was villain raising most of his hands, or was he limping a lot? If villain was raising a lot preflop I wouldn't mind 3betting preflop with the intention of calling a shove, especially with this stack size.

The big bet probably means what it looks like a big hand, just fold it pre without any further info.

Yes, fold pre too expensive as all you are doing here is set mining.
$15 or less I call.
1/2 people bet face up meaning big bets big hands small bets small hands.

Shove or fold because he's this shallow. He's probably not open raising to 25/folding. But all of the unpaired broadway cards and higher pairs means you're at best flipping. Maybe 88-99 some of the time but those don't outweigh that you're a tiny favorite even against QJo. I'd fold pre.

If this is his first and only 'big' raise pre-flop after you've been at the table for a significant amount of time, I'd be inclined to fold pre as well.

Seems like a fold pf as we're likely behind villain's range and we aren't getting the right price to set mine.
As played, I actually don't mind turning our hand into a bluff on the flop if two conditions are met: Flop sizing from villain matches prior history of weakness. Sb seems disinterested in the hand.
We'd be risking $125 at the most to win $115 and if we get called we should still have 8% equity. This looks a lot like JJ/QQ to me. Our bluff also prevents us from folding the best hand when villain takes this line with a hand such as AQ or 99.
