$500 effective stacks. One limper in MP and I look down at AhJh and make it $15 to go. SB folds, BB flats and MP limper folds.
History with and knowledge of V is he's aggressive and often makes 3/4 to pot sized bets on many streets. Barrels frequently. Previous session with him I picked him off multiple times making pot sized river bluffs. Not a complete maniac, but sometimes reckless, though not afraid to go for thin value with top and sometimes middle pair if he thinks his hand is good or he can steal the pot. Solid player with obvious holes in his game. Played many sessions with him and only recall him CR me once.
The hand:
$30 pot.
Flop As, Ad, 7c. V checks. I bet $20. V calls. Pot $70.
Turn 3c. V checks, I bet $55, V CR's to $155. I think about it and call. Pot $280.
River 8s. V quickly checks. I think for a second and jam. In hindsight I think that was dumb as hell and wish I'd checked back, but with our history I didnt forsee him trapping me on the river. V instacalls.
Thoughts?

Sorry he had 77 but what can you do.

Check turn unless you have lots of HU/btn vs blinds type battles together. You are way ahead/way behind and are not going to get 3 streets of value in 98% circumstances. No draws, easy turn check to induce.

honestly I would probably check back the turn. villain's turn c/r is already showing that he beats you and would be a weird approach for a value hand you beat (aces worse kicker). my guess is he got inexplicitly passive on the river with AK or AQ.

over limp pre. if you must raise, don't raise so much.

I know we don't usually post results, but yeah, he had AQ. Not sure why I went for three streets, especially after the turn CR. I think my history with him gave me a false sense of confidence and I had blinders on. Should've thought it through more. Thanks fellas.

OrIs there any scenario where I fold to the CR on the turn? You're right, I should've checked the turn and there's obviously nothing I beat when he CR me unless he just lost his mind with an ace/ weaker kicker. I hope to avoid spots like that in the future that are of my own doing, but should I have just folded to the CR there?

AP I woulda called turn and an easy check on river given aggro description but checking turn is going to get this V to spaz with anything on the river which is why its an easy check on the turn.

I like betting the turn and would not be that worried about the c/r given the description. It could easily be A-weak kicker or combo draw. You calling the c/r kinda shuts down the weaker hands unless vil is maniac...but I am also puzzled by the river check.
