1/2 - Acceptable Odds or Just Chasing? 1/2 - Acceptable Odds or Just Chasing?

V1 (250BB): Fairly strong, aggressive player. Don’t have that much information.

V2 (80BB): Haven’t seen this player too much, bought in short-stacked and lost a few small hands

Hero (75BB): Straightforward, table image slightly nitty

V1 (UTG) straddles (2.5BB), MP calls, Hero (BTN) raises to 10BB with KhQh, folds to V2 (BB) who calls, V1 calls, MP folds.

Flop (32.5BB): Jd10d7d

V2 bets 7.5BB, V1 calls 7.5BB, Hero calls 7.5BB.

Turn (55BB): 5s

V2 bets 12.5BB, V1 calls 12.5BB, Hero calls 12.5BB.

River (92.5BB): Ah

V2 bets 50BB, V1 thinks for a bit and then calls 50BB, Hero moves all-in. V2, with very little behind, calls; V1 thinks for a moment and calls as well.

What I’m confused about here is: Did Hero have the odds to call the flop and turn? They were relatively small bets for an OESD, and when V2 bet the flop and V1 didn’t raise, I didn’t think V1 had a made flush. V2 could have had a made flush, but that was probably a pretty small percentage of his cbet range on the flop. So I think that when Hero is at the flop decision time, it’s relatively unlikely that either Villain has a made flush, but if another diamond comes up it’s probably time to let it go. I don’t think turn changes anything; we’re getting 7:1 pot odds on 6 outs?

Please let me know if I’m thinking about this the wrong way. I’m still fairly new to studying poker, and would really appreciate your help talking through this! 😊

I would have raised the flop. Small bets are usually someone chasing a draw in this situation or the nuts. If they have the nuts at 1/2, they'll shove the rest of the money in.

I wouldn't have raised the river honestly, even if they had little behind. It feels like a crying call with the other caller in the middle, since someone has a flush here a lot.

Flop seems fine, you could raise if you had one diamond in your hand, but as is, you're fine calling, imo.

Turn is probably a fold with the caller in the middle even with the small bet size. There's a chance you're drawing dead and even if you're not, you're probably on 6 outs. 7:1 pot odds is not enough since you could be dead so potentially negative implied odds.

It's usually not worth chasing an OESD on a monotone flop of a different suit. 2 of your outs are likely dirty and you can be drawing dead already. Plus the chance of you facing a flush go up quickly if opponents are willing to put in a lot of money so it's common to win a small pot or lose a big one.

The small bets on a board that allow for a lot of worse hand to bet/call make it tempting and I might call flop/turn on this board. I'm not raising river after there is a bet and call, depending on opponents I might fold river. Depending on what I think of opponents I might raise flop.
