I tried doing a Google search to see what people think are the differences between 1/2 live 200 max buy in vs a 1/2 300 max. I've only seen 1/2 200 and 1/3 300 but not 1/2 300 (but I am new to live poker). I would guess 300 would be looser but I may have it backwards, I'm not sure.

The only sure difference is that 150bb max vs. 100bb will tend to have deeper stacks, that doesn't necessarily make the game looser though. It increases skill differential, what I mean is that better players will tend to win more and losing players will tend to lose more.

An extra 50bb doesn't completely change the game either, so individual game conditions will matter a great deal more than the buy in size.

If we know nothing else about the game, the deeper the game, the better the player on average.
Not because people are any better at playing deeper per say, but because if you are already a good player you will generally try to play in a deeper game so you have more room to exploit the mistakes of other players.

Another thing to note is that typically you are laid better IO from someone's stack when the game can be deeper. Granted, this is player dependent as they might just be a nit and fold everything pre or post flop.

What is really means though, the deeper we are the better reads we need to do just about everything that we do.
There more room for error, skill, finesse, 3betting/4betting, bluff raising and a a whole host of other things that just aren't possible on a shallower stack.

But again, reads. Reads. And Reads.

Yeah, 50 BB doesn't make all that much of a difference.

The increase in buyin drops effective rake, due to big pots being capped.most of Las Vegas is 1-2-300 and I would much rather play deeper as most LSNL villains can't fold and being deeper opens opportunities for interesting value over betting spots.
