I'm cool with preflop.

I probably pot the flop for simple value. We should have decent equity here so I'm simply trying to build a big pot with my big hand.

I probably just call the raise. First, we're OOP and will be left in a tough spot on the turn if we whiff; will we continue to semi-bluff the rest of our stack? I'd rather be in position here so I could have the option of taking a free card. Second, facing a raise, there's a chance now that we don't have nearly as many outs as we think we do; against AJ/AT/A4/44 (ETA: I totally forgot AA/JJ too), we've only got our flush outs going for us. Third, I just think we rarely have much FE against someone who raises. So I just flat and see what happens on the turn; there's still a chance by flatting that we get a free card on the turn.

Also if I see known nit coming to table or some older guy who seems like a nit, I sit back to my original seat and be happy to have him on my left. So here, when I see competent looking young Asian sitting and buying for full stack, I ask to take his seat - in my game, I can sit there until he plays first hand.
+1

I always do a quick evaluation of a new player sitting down to an open seat 2 on either side of me (where I can move for free) and then decide which seat I should be in.

This probably ain't horrible. HOC makes a point for open limping in late position simply in an attempt to get into hands for cheap with weak players, who because we didn't raise them out preflop, our now risking their stack postflop since they are in the hand.

I still think I'd lean towards raising because it doesn't look like this hand is going to go very multiway (as soon as it looks like it is going multiway, I'd be more for limping). In a multiway pot, there's a better chance we hit our hand plus one of the idiots hits enough of their hand to consider stacking off; in a 2 or 3 way pot, less chance of that happening.

grunch

I would get the money in here. You're 40% against a range of AK/AQ/AJ/JJ/44, and I'd imagine that a strong line will fold out top pairs some of the time.

reraise 125 and call shove or pile any turn.

so we charge only lower flush draws, of which there are ~8 legitimate combos, and valuetown ourselves against the 40ish combos of Ax, higher Jx that call us?

I'd flat since you both still have $230 behind.

If you both had $100 behind or less, I'd probably shove.

Raise more preflop.

Flop can go either way between call or raise/get-it-in depending on what V1 raise/fold range is.
