1/2 - 100 Spread Game, KK in the Small Blind

1/2 Blinds, $100 max bet/raise (e.g. villain bets $40, hero can make it $140 to go)

Hero: young black male, reg, playing on the tighter side, a little passive, but can be aggressive, $226

villian 1: HJ, reg, $400, can be aggressive, pretty good player

villain 2: Button, looser, passive, limped many hands, limped/called and cold called raises to $7 - $15 range, $200

folds to villain 1 who makes it $12 in the HJ
CO folds, v2 on the button makes it $24
Hero makes it $80 to go from the SB w/ KK
Villain 1 thinks for a few and folds after about 30 secs
V2 calls fairly quickly

Flop ($169 after rake) A Q 5r

Hero ???

I'm looking for feedback on the 3-bet size? what and why on the flop? What's a realistic range for this villain considering reads and the action?

horror flop oop.

SPR is about 1.0 so folding is annoying.. On the other hand, you do not beat much.

Your description of villain is passive so him calling your 4-bet is not too surprising but he did 3-bet himself from the BTN and showed some aggression. I would go with my reads here, how often does he 3-bet? Should you give him credit for an A here? I also assume he is never folding an A if he's got one, regardless of kicker?

Reads aside, I think you got outflopped by an A or QQ and a shove will almost always get you a call here. He will fold all pocket pairs JJ-99. Or is his range tighter than that?

Would fold, better luck next time.

I'd range your villain at AA, KK, and if he was feeling saucy maybe AK or QQ. Since you have blockers to the kings it probably not even a chop. It's Aces most of the time.

I might be in the minority, but if a passive guy min re raises pre flop, you should think hard about stacking off with kings.

3bet size is around the right number as it sets up a ~2/3 pot shove on the flop.

I think our villain is wider than just KK/AA here but not by much. Probably JJ/AQs+ which unfortunately crushes this flop head on. I'd just check and hope to get to a free showdown when he has jacks.

In my experience when passive players who are much more content to limp call or check call, go ahead and reraise they are usually pretty strong. Not saying give him credit for aces from go but I think his raise is strong.

Terrible flop. I think almost his entire range--aa kk qq ak jj-- have you beat. ****ty, but Easy fold IMO

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it.

So fold seems like a consensus but how? B/f or c/f? If b/f, bet how much? If c/f, is there anything were calling ( e.g. Villain bets $25 into this pot) to try to draw? Or is it just not worth any price?

against a passive opponent, c/f is fine here. You pretty much only beat JJ at this point, and he will probably check that down.

You played it fine, now just check and fold to any bet.
