Hero is new to the game but has played with owe half the table on numerous occasions. Starts hand with ~120£ .
Villain is young player who I heard talking about Vegas plans with friend on the rail. He seems v comfortable at the table and is winning good amount. Haven't really seen him play any hands maybe some c bets that got through.
Villain limps utg for £1, 2 more limps to hero who is hijak with ksqh.
Hero raises to £10, cutoff (huge old fish) calls and villain calls everyone else folds.
Flop = k 9 4 rainbow pot ~32
Villains donk leads for £16
Hero calls, fish folds.
Turn is 3 not sure if it creates a fd or not and villain shoves for my remaining ~95.
Interested to know if anyone would play different, x

I like preflop a lot, especially if you think it'll get you the button and thin the field more times than not. Calling the flop is standard being that you have another player left to act behind you.

The turn action is really suspect. There's $66 in the pot, why is he shoving if he has a value hand when you've shown interest in the pot? What kind of history do you have with this specific Villain? If any, how do you think he views you?

The turn card is pretty important here especially if it brings a flush draw and it's not the same suit as the King.

Also, post hands using this template, makes it much easier to read and more likely to get responses.

Without reads, Villain's line is fishy unless he has 44 or 99 (and if he is calling your pre-flop raise w/K9 or K4 OOP he's a pretty bad player which we'll keep in mind for later). Villain limp/calls pre (not a strong hand usually), bet 1/2 the pot otf (weakish) and overbet the pot ott (feels like he wants a fold)? He doesn't have AK I'm pretty sure. This feels like a bluff, call.

hand as played up to turn is fine IMHO.

Thanks for the help with posting.

The second response was my exact thinking, he dosnt seem bad enough to have two pair in his range and he can't have ak, so only sets or bluffs in his range. Isn't it really pushing it to assume that villain just decided to go crazy and bluff throughout this hand for no reason? I have no history with him so ther isn't a dynamic

His tell: when he talks about going to Vegas, he definitely sounds like a young punk who would try to bluff you here....

j/k, but his line is fishy. If Villain was OMC or I had played w/Villain enough to know he never is bluffing when he goes all in, I would give his all in bet a lot more respect. But in this situation, I don't.

Thoughts while deciding included that I was in a good game full of bad players and now I'm thinking about staking of with one pair against the only decent player at the table. Does this thought have any merit? Also if e is really good can aces be in his range? He viewed me as a good player

Usually when you get in 120 bb with TPGK without a read, it's a bad play.

Your hand looks exactly like what it is and he wants to keep firing into you. That would give me some pause if I didn't have a read he was a bluffer.

Your stack kinda screws u here so lets pretend we are deeper....

now Turn is a virtual blank, so ask yourself if you would choose to ship here (as a bluff) if u were V. Answer is no so his line is value or he is clueless.

Fold unless u think i beat his value range.

fold, your hand looks like AK and basically is AK and still he is shoving...
