Playing in a home game last night and a hand came up where I would like some input as to how I played it

V1 - $110 - mostly a unknown, never played with him before, looks to be in his 30s, was talking about how he loves to gamble on anything whether it be poker or golf, judging by his mannerisms at the table he is not competent beyond the basics of poker

V2 - $60 - mostly irrelevant to the hand but a fairly solid player from what I have seen

Hero - $160 - playing tight so far, early 20s guy

Hero on the button with AK

V2 limps utg, folds to H who raises to $10 (standard raise at the table had been about $8)

V1 calls from the SB, V2 calls

Flop
A 2 7

V1 leads for 10, V2 folds, Hero raises to $30, V1 calls

Turn
10

V1 leads for $35, H calls

River
Q
V1 leads for $55, Hero?

Easy call against this player and based on pot odds.

I probably raise turn against a gambloor. He bet barely over 1/3 pot, which is often an attempt to set a price for a draw.

AP, it's likely a crying call, just because it's such a small bet and he could have a worse ace here sometimes. Pot is $160 before his (again about 1/3 pot) bet. Your call will represent 20% of the $270 pot, so even though you are usually beat here (mostly by 2-pair or flushes, sometimes by weirdly played sets), you may well be good one time out of 5, which is all you need to make it a profitable call.

I'd check your bet and/or stack sizes because by my count V1 should only have $30 left on the river.

You say he's an unknown, but how may orbits have you played at this table? How many hands does is he play? If he's a typical LAG player who could have any Ax here then once you raise the flop, you're pretty much committed to playing for stacks. Based on the limited read you gave us, raise flop then shove over his turn bet seems like the right play. As played call the river.

However against better players I think this is a flop call. You have the A so he's not on a combo draw. I'm not looking to stack off with top pair every time.

I like the flop raise in this spot.Against described villain i would have shipped the turn though after he donks into us, he have already put in more than half his stack into this pot: turn seems like the time to get the rest in with top top.

Shove turn vs someone who will likely never fold any piece
