1/1 - AK on the straddle

I'm straddling UTG to 2, I have around 300 in front of me.

3 limps in MP and LP, both blinds check.

I pick up AKo UTG/Straddle and pop it to 15.

Player A (300~) in MP calls as does Player B (145~ before the hand started) in the BB.

The flop comes KJ8 rainbow and BB shoves.

What I know about the player: Nothing about his style, but was involved in a pot earlier where he ended up shoving on the river and getting called. He had AT for trips and other player had A9 for a full house which he absolutely slow-rolled. He was quite outspoken and angry I guess you could say, walked off quite quickly, and came back with another buy-in. He came back and said "if i lose this buy-in I'm barring myself from the casino, I'll sign the form right in front of all of you" - I hadn't spoken to him directly myself.

Thoughts?!

The anecdote provided gives little info about the man's playing style or proclivities, only that he's steaming, and will likely try to force a win. Is he stationy? Gambooly? Loose or tight pre? Surely you've got some better reads than just the slow-roll anecdote.

The best advice I would give after reading this is don't straddle

How could both blinds check if there was a straddle and calls?

I guess call. Without a specific read on what he is playing other then he is tilted, you have to expect the over shove on this board is a lot of OESDs and not many hands that are beating you. Two pair or a set might donk into this, but not huge over shove.

With a better read on villain I could fold here. Some weak villains will panic with big hands on a drawish board and shove and a few tricky players will shove a big hand here when they know it's going to look more like a draw. On the other hand, more villains are likely to think you where trying to steal it preflop and shove any KX and possibly even JX on this board.

Re: 1/1 - AK on the straddle

Respectful agreement on not straddling.

So there's $45 already in the pot and he's making it $130 to go. We need (130 / (51+130+130)) = 42% equity . . .

I do think a huge hand would let you bet first to get some money in the pot. So I think you have to call here and ride the variance train, expecting to see K2-like hands a fair amount of the type and QT and T9 a ton.

If he's pulling this off with a set or top 2, good job by him of knowing his image and exploiting it.

Re: 1/1 - AK on the straddle

You need to be reading more on your opponents. You haven't given us any idea of this villains preflop range, or aggression.
More so you are remembering quotes from him which are not of importance.

Why are people suggesting he calls here?
When is top pair good here even with no reads?

Unless we have reads this guys vpip is like 60, and he's done this before already with only top pair, I am never calling here...

Re: 1/1 - AK on the straddle

Sorry, yes both blinds called the straddle before I raised it to 15.

The Villain in question only played one hand (the one I described) in one orbit before losing, leaving and coming back. So if anything, I guess you can gather he is not a maniac and that loose. Tight enough to play only 1 hand in previous orbit.

Given that (so little history), I'd probably let this one go. It's 130 to win ~175. Pretty steep.
