Hello gentlemen,

this weekend I have been playing $0.5/$1 at our local casino.
At that moment we were playing 5-handed, it was approx 10am already and we have all been playing at least for 12 hours already.

SB: Hero - ~$650
BB: Tight-passive player - ~$400
UTG: Villain - loose-aggresive player, having big history with me. - ~$950
CO: loose-crazy player, losing a lot of money that night ~$350
BU: TAG ~$600

I have been playing my A-game the whole night, lost in some crazy setups HOUSE<QUADS, but still managed to be up ~$450. I have been caught bluffing very rarely this session, anyway since V has got history on me, he knows I love playing my draws/hit&draws very aggresively as semi-bluff.

I've got dealt 45 on the SB, and UTG puts straddle into play. All limps up to V, who raises to $8, CO&Hero calls, BU folds.

Flop goes: 678

Hero checks, V c-bets $10, CO calls - hero check-raises to $40 and V tank-raise to $160. CO folds, it is up to Hero. What to do?

Who is V? bb?

Assuming "V" is bb

Is 9T even in a tight passives pre raise range?

Will he overplay an overpair?

Your crushing everything.

Ship it.

V is UTG/straddle. I suppose, that he could be overplaying over-pair, because of our common history, and me usually semi-bluffing draws at this spot.

Men, sucks that he covers us here.

But I think that makes it a bet/raise.

If he puts in a 5b I really don't know, I would defer to your history in how he might play topset in this spot.

He may be trying to protect his sets/2pair or semi bluffing with a multi use of combo draws.

If he has 9T this is a cooler.

Thanks for your opinion!

Spoiler:
I shoved, he calls with T9

Coolers when 650BB deep don't exist.

Fold preflop is the best answer.

Once in this spot you should be in call down mode really. Getting it in this deep with the ass end of a straight is pretty bad.

Folding pre is bad imo, those hands are ideal to play when this deep. This only applies if u have really good postflop skills tho, can ctrl the pot to ur liking, and have a detailed plan for every hand.

+1 for the call down mode. When the action gets too hot n heavy u are often dead here. V has to be really bad or a complete maniac to come over the top with 2 pair here, even with some bottom set.

Call the flop and start fron there.

a couple of reasons why this hand is NOT ideal to pay in this spot.

1. you're OOP to the whole table. That's pretty huge when playing stupid deep.

2. 45 never hits an over straight. You never cooler anyone with 45. You only ever get coolered in reverse.

3. You offer caveats for when this is profitable, but judging from OP and results (which I just read) none of them are met in this situation.

I have made some math regarding this hand, in different villain's ranges/scenarios.

Effective stacks = $650

Preflop pot = $24 (8 bb raise + 2 callers)

Flop pot = $24 (preflop) + $20 (cbet+call) + $40 (hero raise) + $160-$10 (V raise-cbet) = $234

Hero's EV of folding here is $602.

Now let's assume, that villain is raising to 160$ with following intentions/ranges.

1)
Raise/Fold: -- (0%); Raise/Stackoff: 66,77,88,T9s (100%;Eq=43.5%)

Hero's EV of shoving here is:

EV = 1328*0.435 = $577.68

Hero is losing $24.32 on average.

2)
Raise/Fold: 66 (24%) ; Raise/Stackoff: 77,88,T9s (76%;Eq=37%)

Hero's EV of shoving here is:

EV = 0,24*(602+234)+0,76*(1328*0,37) = $574.07

Hero is losing $27.92 on average.

3)
Raise/Fold: AA,KK,66 (60%) ; Raise/Stackoff: 77,88,T9s (40%;Eq=37%)

Hero's EV of shoving here is:

EV = 0,6*(602+234)+0,4*(1328*0,37) = $698.144

Hero is winning $96.144 on average.

4)
Raise/Fold: AA,KK (48%) ; Raise/Stackoff: 66,77,88,T9s (52%;Eq=43%)

Hero's EV of shoving here is:

EV = 0,48*(602+234)+0,52*(1328*0,43) = $698.2208

Hero is winning $96.2208 on average.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is my math correct? If so, then shoving at this spot seems to be good move, when we suppose (according to our common history),
that V could have been holding AA/KK (even QQ?).

Do you think that it is possible that Villain is holding those hands?

Thanks for your opinion.

Best regards,

Did not check math but will also reccomend adding 2p combos in r/f and or R/stackoff category.
