this! You don't have a huge loss... and if you hit your goal you stand to profit.

Huge motivation to get the whole way.

(dead money is created when he only gets partial, if he was a 5% or whatever) We'll decide what to do with it if that happens. It's not going to, however. I'm hitting this ****.
Huh? Confused. If you hit and me and another guy both put in $500 and make it halfway there will be $500 in the pool. Who gets how much?

OK so I have a little problem here. As leo suggested in his kind hearted and playful mocking of our little endeavor, purely measuring body weight to the degree of accuracy we're talking about is, to use the parlance of his people, a might bit silly. We've all heard people say that your body weight "cycles" or "fluctuates" by "as much as 5 pounds" or "alot". Well, at least I've heard all that mumbo-jumbo, and mostly I lol'ed cause really isn't that just fat chics trying to explain why they can't lose weight? "I'm fluctuating!" they say. We all know what Tommy Angelo has to say about that....Anyway, the following are true facts:

1. Yesterday morning I drove to Target and bought the scale. I weighed myself and it said I weighed 178.6 pounds. I repeated the weighing and got the exact same result (the scale reports numbers to the even tenths of pounds....so 178.5 was not possible, but 178.4 or 178.8 was). Weighing was done in boxers, as were all subsequent ones.

2. I ate breakfast and weighed myself again. The reading was 180.2. Again I repeated it, and again I got the exact same result. 1.8 pounds of cereal, milk, and water seemed about right to me.

3. Later on that day I weighed myself again and I was up to 181.4 pounds. Again I repeated it, and this time it was off. I got 181.2. I drink a lot of stuff throughout the day. Water, diet coke, water, OJ, diet coke, repeat.

4. My gf weighed herself on the scale that night and got a number within 1 pound of what she expected from her scale at work (it actually reported she had lost about 4 pounds from that number, but at work she has to wear shoes, jeans, a teeshirt, and hoodie...weighing in in her underwear, while fine at home, would be decidedly uncouth).

5. So in short, I believe the scale to be very, very accurate.

6. That night before bed I weighed in at 179.8. I did not repeat it.

7. This morning when I woke up, I weighed in at 177.8. I did not repeat it, but basically lost 2 pounds throughout the night.

8. 13 hours later, after eating a small breakfast, small lunch, and small dinner with two beers as one last celebration before I get serious business about this, I weighed in at 184.0 pounds

I am still committed to entering this competition and matching avoid's 5 fun tickets, but I am basically asking him here on faith to tell me where in the spectrum of my 177 to 184 pound 13 hour period his 205 falls before committing to the full 10% loss plan.

In short, we're all fluct.

Did you unload 2 lbs of urine onto the bed?

Whatever floats your boat. I'm merely commenting that, from what I read on these forums, most people here seem to have no problem whatsoever obtaining all the drugs they want.

Yeah funny thing is no I did not.....I did wake up to pee, which could maybe be like half a pound I guess, but other than that I just kept right on breathing clean through the night.

Obviously, you need to pee into a pre-tared jar and see how much weight you're losing at night.

Actually, it could be considerably more than 1/2 lb, especially since the urge woke you up. A 500ml voided specimen of urine weighs about 1.1 pounds.

As an aside, I've relieved many men with acute urinary retention (usually due to prostate trouble) of more than a liter of urine after catherization. The most that comes to mind was 1400ml- that's a shade over three pounds of piss!

My humble suggestion would be that the participants weigh themselves in the morning after their first void of the day, and before eating. I'm a lil ambivalent about how ya'll should handle the morning dump.

While that may or may not be true, I was thinking more along the lines of a prescription strength laxative and a good diuretic to lose those final four or five pounds. (jk, ldo.)

I'm pretty sure most of the people in this forum can get drugs you never heard of.
For the record, there are damn few, if any, drugs that I've "never heard of." As soon as one is "cooked up" and brought to market, you can bet some idiot will show up in the ER after having ODed on it.

Consistency in measuring weight loss is easy...............

You simply weigh yourself at the same time every day to eliminate any of the natural fluctuations that occur.

I always weigh in the moment I wake up for work (after urinating). If you do that for the weigh in and then for the final result you will be consistent. Of course this assumes you have a fairly stable routine.

I'll weigh in with a suggestion to help all of the competitors here. If you're concerned about sticking with this endeavor, I suggest only weighing yourselves once per week, same day, same time, same amount of clothing. The day to day fluctuations can wear down your resolve and make it more difficult to stay the course.
Good luck and much willpower to all.

Jesse, I weigh in right when I wake up in the mornings after taking a piss; that's my 205 lbs. I wore no clothing.

---- to clear up some of the payout q's (it was hard making the system work for multiple buyins, etc) ----

I buy in for 500, on 10%
Jesse buys in for 500 on 10%
Leo buys in for 50 on 5%
Calli buys in for 300 on 5%
SomeRandomDude buys in for 800 on 10%

for instance----
Jesse makes his full goal, gets his buy-in completely back, and is eligible for the failure pool money
Calli makes his full goal, gets his buy-in completely back, and is eligible for the failure pool
Leo makes his full goal, gets his buy-in completely back, and is eligible for the failure pool
I only make 6% of my 10% goal, and lose 40% of my buy-in to the failure pool. (200$)
SomeRandomDude only makes 0% of his 10% goal, and lose 100% of his buy-in to the failure pool. (800$)

-----------calculating profit---------------- (this was annoying to setup, but i find extremely solid)
Jesse's successful buy-in = 500
As Leo's with 5% assumed less risk, he cannot profit as much, successful Buy-in = 50 * 50% = 25$ This is the # used to calculate his profit sharing
As Calli with 5% assumed less risk, he cannot profit as much, successful Buy-in = 300 * 50% = 150$ This is the # used to calculate his profit sharing

total successful buyins = 500+25+150 = 675 (this is for weight calcs)

The three of you will split the 1k failure pool money.

You already earned your buy-ins back... this is pure profits:
Jesse's profit = (500/675)*1000$ = ~ 741$
Leo's profit = (25/675)*1000$ = ~37$
Calli's profit = (150/675)*1000$ = ~222$

OK just wanted to make sure your 205 was an "empty morning" weigh in. Obviously we will try to make weight at the end on an empty morning, so doing it to start is most fair.

Ill post my official entry tonight after I finish losing these 4 racks to the Armenian angle shooters.

Might be a while as I'm actually up 2.5 racks despite missing an obvious 5 way turn bluff raise with 6-high so here goes.

avoid has generously agreed to start me at an even 180, with a start date of May 20. I will be ponying up $500 to BBB this evening and will chase the full 10%. The alternative was me starting at 178 and only shooting at 9%.

TBH 162 pounds is an absurd goal for me, and I am nowhere nearly as confident as he is that I can hit the target. People who know me can attest I'm not obese

So there you have it...Game On IMO.

Miller lite (spell it right kid) is the beer of choice for beer pong, as it tastes almost exactly like water, especially when you're down 3-2 and the other team just stole home court advantage. I do not suggest wine pong though. Just trust me on that one.

I have shipped the $500 to babar and the game is officially afoot.
