wait until turn? or raise nao? wait until turn? or raise nao?

4/8 kill at the commerce, regular pot. I have 98 in the CO. A very loose/erratic player in MP open limps. He is very aggressive on flops and has FPS on occasion. I limp. Unknown player in the SB raises. Shortstack BB calls, MP calls, I call.

7 SB - Q98r (no diamond) - SB leads, BB calls (all-in), MP calls, I... raise? or wait until the turn?

Cards I very much dislike: T, J, Q. Cards I'm uncomfortable with: K, A. So that's about 19 cards I don't like to see. There's only two players though and my equity should still be decent in this spot vs 2 players. I have great position and a turn raise could be great, but there's no guarantee I'll see a 2nd bet from SB.

Also: if I raise flop and its checked to me on the turn with a T/J/Q, should I still bet?

What say you?

You should consider this a 4-way pot in terms of the main and 3-way in terms of the side pot, because BB is 100% going to showdown. I'd raise now while I have the advantage and position - you're drawing live to a straight or bigger two pair on the turn and you can play nearly perfectly because of position, which is in this case both relative and absolute. If a A/K/J/T comes on the turn, you might even be able to get a free card and avoid a check-raise from the SB.

If the blinds are tightish, I'm raising any hand I'm playing in CO/Button vs only 1 limper. If blinds are loose, then I limp along here and hope to get a 5 way pot going.

I just raise now with MP trapped in the hand, we might even get a chance to cap it. There's no guarantee we're going to get a lot of bets in on the turn (SB might check the turn as our turn scare cards usually scare him too, plus MP might bail anyways).

I'm betting J/T if checked to on the turn; if we're check/raised, we still have fullhouse outs. Q really sucks as now it counterfeits our hand; if I did bet, it's the last bet I'm putting in the pot.

Raise pf; raise flop.

the reason I didn't raise pf was because button was a massive calling station. he miraculously decided not to play. I did think about it.

rest of hand: I raised flop, both call. J falls on turn, I bet, SB calls, MP check-raises... I call and fold to his river bet. GH?

When in doubt raise the flop.

Sticky that.

i see what you mean, like if they're playing absolute garbage for any number of bets then it's good to push an equity edge. i just don't think that our equity edge 4way is all that great. 4 is an icky number, because it's too multiway to be able to barrel ourselves to victory (usually) and at the same time it's not multiway enough to have a signifcant edge to justify raising.

this is a spot where i love to limp behind and keep the pot small. i'm not usually a fan of this move, but in this spot it makes our postflop play a lot easier. we almost always have to at least pair up to win the hand, so keep it small enough so that our opponents can make significant FTOP mistakes by calling down all the way with bottom pair.

i think leo's mentality is way online driven here. make the blinds foldy though and i change my mind.
