Two tight raises

Super tight passive raises mid position, next to act, her husband who is definitely more loose but not overly so and doesn't 3 bet light, clicks raise. Folds to me in the SB with jacks. My play?

Re: Two tight raises

Can't answer without some ranges.

If she is the only raises with AA's or KK' type then you have your answer.

Re: Two tight raises

Yeah like define tight passive. There's definitely a list of people I'd fold to here, but it's not a long one.

Is the BB the sort who might call two more but fold for three more? If so then four-bet. (Why? because it is easier to play OOP three-way than it is to play OOP four-way; the raise can buy us best relative position.)

Otherwise, I would flat-call and see whether super-tight-passive caps or not.

(FWIW, anything I play here at all, up to AA, I play like this.)

Re: Two tight raises

Blah. I 4 bet. Looking back at it, the original raise range is TT+, AQ+ and maybe AJ though I block lots of combos. Given that range and the 3 bet on the tighter side of things coupled with being out of position leans towards fold being the best play. I've been trying to be more aggressive on all streets though I don't think this was good. QQ is a slam dunk but JJ is the line imo.

Re: Two tight raises

If JJ is the strongest hand you'll fold, then bluff-raise! :^)

Re: Two tight raises

When you face such tight raise I think it's best to call JJ in the SB and not capping.
Actually I would play tight and have a 0 capping range.
If you have AA for example and a low board hit, be prepared to put a lot of bet in on the flop because they won't suspect you have AA , thinking there K is the nutz.
Even more so if you have a JJ and a J hit with little cards

Usually they know they play tight and if you cap pf they will suspect you are very strong .
Those ar the kind , I think, that complain they only have action postflop when they are beat and thinks they are unlucky that they faced a monster postflop or AA

Re: Two tight raises

This hand reminds me of a spot OL once where some tighter player opened and a guy with like a 1% 3 bet over 120 or so hands does so. I had AKs in the sb and initially didn't know what to do, then I just decided to not have a capping range because I didn't really have the evidence required to fold, but I did have some evidence that I wanted to not play a huge pot.

It could make sense to take a similar strategy here, especially if the BB isn't coming along wide when you call. Since ranges are so tight, you'll likely make up value when you have aces anyway.

Why would you bluff raise here? Out of position and given description woman is never folding, hell NO ONE is. (well maybe JRD lmao...couldn't help it, lol)
