I would bet and hope he raises his ace so I can three bet.

I dont see a c/r working here often enough, even loose villains check behind. If he was LAG it might be a different story.

Why would anyone raise an A here?

You lose to AA, AJ and 22. Lead and have no fear if you get raised. I make a crying call if he 4 bets though.

Is he aggresive straightforward or passive straightforward?

Why ? I dont know.

But do they ? Sure they do. AK 'slowplays' his ace on the turn, hoping for river action.

Let's look at what happens if he has various hands.

Hand that beats you (AJ, 22, AA) - Doesn't really matter as you'll be taken for 4 bets either way.

Another Jack - Doesn't matter, split pot.

An (unlikely) slowplayed 2 - Sexy better as he would probably bet when checked to and payoff a raise, but only call if you bet.

An Ace - Here it depends a) how aggressive he is and b) how good he is. A good player (even an aggressive one) would probably not bet an ace if you check as he would correctly identify that you wouldn't fold anything that beats him and wouldn't call much that he beats (except a worse ace if he has AQ/AK). Likewise a passive player probably wouldn't bet an ace either as the board would look scary. So for a sexy to be right here, the player would have to be both aggressive AND not that good AND pay off the sexy (as if he folds to the sext its the same result as if he called your bet). All in all sexy bad here.

33-KK - If he called the turn, he is probably calling the river too (unless he has KK, QQ), but I can't imagine he would bet here and even if he did would he pay off the sexy?

So all in all the sexy is probably bad or neutral unless he has a two which, given the action, just doesn't seem that likely.

If you're dealing with a straight-forward average player for your game, he's not going to bet for you. He must either be too passive to do so, or too good of a hand reader. I doubt there are very many players aggro enough to bet aces but also bad enough to think that doing so is a good idea. Bet, and I only call a raise actually.

No, a good deal of your range for your flop action included a jack. And, that is what you have. Your opponent, isn't going to fall for the sexy here, unless they are really hopeless. You stand too big a chance of getting the river checked through, if you check now.

Exactly, you've got to bet it.

Bet. Don't want that to get checked behind. If you get raised (which seems unlikely to me) then I think it's read dependent. 3bet if there's a good chance he'd raise that river with an A or just call if it's unclear...
