From my study of the law, I don't think your consent would have been considered valid if you were under the influence of narcotics that they had administered to you. Watching may have been one thing, but imagine if one of the students had actually done the procedure, something went wrong, and you find out later that you had "consented", but didn't really given your state of influence under the narcotics.

The procedure was done by a head resident or something with the more experienced doctor standing right there. They talked to me about that well before drugs were given. Also i had someone with me who would have stepped in if I was doing something stupid.

You're right, things could onviously have gone worse, but in this case I think everything was legit.

Before the surgery they gave me dilaudid, which apparently makes my feet warm and also makes me tell the ladyfriend that I want to get 2 cats (which I still have).

Thanks, but that's too extreme. Frankly, I could get any drug I wanted to w/i 15 minutes of asking around in the poker room. And boy am I glad that I'm not in my 20's anymore.

I guess things do tend to balance out.

The last time I got gas the automatic shut-off on the pump indicated, at least a couple of times, that the tank was full. But the gas gauge showed not quite full, and calculations showed that I had gotten wildly good gas mileage on the previous tank. So it was clearly not a full tank.

Tonight I got gas again. This time the automatic shut-off completely failed to work, and gas overflowed onto the ground for several seconds before I caught it. Never had that happen before.

So I watched the pilot for this new show called "Breaking Bad" last night. It is about a high school chemistry teacher who gets cancer and decides to make meth. It seems to have some potential. Going to watch episode #2 tonight - will report back with thoughts.
