About 1700 hands, VPIP 35( I think should be closer to 30?) PFR is 17(too low?), 3 bet is 7. WTSD is 41, WWSF is 37(should be 40ish), WSD is 55
My ideas compared to full ring-please correct wrong think
1. Broadway cards have more value as you will be HU more
2. Is Ax more playable because shorthanded? I overvalued it at first I think
3. Blinds come more often so I have to widen my range slightly to compensate
4. More blind defense required.
The games seemed pretty aggressive and spotty to find a full/mostly full table, with 1-2 empty seats often, so I took a couple months off, played last night and the game was more passive with a lot of open limping and was 6 handed almost the whole time, sometimes 5 handed. Hoping it it is more regular or maybe I just got lucky last night.
I think the best thing you can do when playing shorthanded is to not over-adjust. We actually want to play a more balanced strategy and take advantage of the people who play far too aggressive or far too loose passive shorthanded.
To that end starting out we’re going to want to play very solid and taggy until we understand what exactly it is our opponents are doing wrong. Ultimately you will be involved in more hands, but that’s because we’re starting from 9handed middle position, and blind vs blind as well as bb vs button play is more common, not because we should be playing significantly looser from those positions.
