Its kind of funny, but before I knew that alot of fish read 2p2 I always wondered what they were thinking when they stumbled across it, like whether some light bulb turned on, but now I realize that people just dont really try to digest the strat they read and bypass it, or disagree and are to stubborn to realize they are wrong. There are a few that actually try to apply concepts and try to improve their game, but I will submit from having many experiences meeting lurkers or small post count people in B & M casinos that 2p2 has improved their game only marginally and not enough to make them a real threat in the games, and in fact that are a couple I have met who I consider to be the action in some of the live games I play in.

my favorite are the people that dismiss 2p2 as a bunch of "math nerds" and think that real poker players are old school road gambler "look you in the face and soul read you" kind of guys.

Great players find ways to win.

AT vs KK is my favorite. Also, in reference to the first hand, stop going all in.

how are those hands not standard for anyone?

i also have to agree about aces. raising preflop just gives people odds to chase flush draws. limp, type in chat that you have aces, and take down a 1BB pot with a flop bet. 7 out of 10 times it works every time.

Was playing to many tables and losing so bad I didnt realize I was going all in... Im in the midst of my worst week ever at low mid stakes. I have never made so many good hands and cant win. I make tptk, two pair, or a set like every hand and run into one better in ever situation. Not saying I am getting sucked out on more than I should, just running into weird situations over and over. Not sure what the numbers should look like but I know this cant be really good...

Yesterday...

straights - 22 times win 68%
Two Pair - 164 times win 56% (two pair with top pair 60%)
three of a kind - 33 times win 57% (Top set.. 66%)
One Pair - 217 times win 26% (Over Pairs to the board 55%)

Not really sure what these should be but I feel like I have been raped all week with good hands. And most of the time I am in a spot im not folding and OP is usually in a spot there not folding either.

Standard Situations... At least I was so gunshy I didnt lost more on a couple of them... The good news is I have learned how to flop hands.... Now I just need to learn how to river them. If it werent so comical I think I would cry. lol

Disagree. Mike Sexton said it was the most powerful move in poker.

Opinions vary about this question. I used to raise AJo but now I don't.

Why you should raise: Your opponents limped and on average they have weak hands. If you deal out five cards and then see who is best (no more betting) you will find they AJo wins considerably more than 1/4 of the time. Raising is like making a side bet on who will win the pot. You put in one bet and your three opponents also put in one bet. If you eventually win the pot you get to keep all four extra bets in addition to whatever else is in the pot. If you win more than 1/4 of the time your side bet is profitable.

PokerStove (www.pokerstove.com) is a tool we often use to compute winning chances in situations like this. But it doesn't factor in future betting or people folding. Like a hammer or a pencil, it is just a tool and not a magic wand. You still need to apply the results to real life.

Why you should just check: Poker isn't played without betting. I'm out-of-position and will be bet off some pots I could have won if I had the button. I also fold some hands that would have won. Unlike some of my opponents I try not to chase bad draws in small pots or prove that AJ unimproved is the best hand against three opponents who are betting up a storm. This saves me a lot of money but it does cuts into my winning percentage. Sometimes the 2-outer comes home and sometimes all three opponents were bluffing after all. I don't win as many pots in this situation as PokerStove would indicate. So maybe I don't win 1/4 of the time and my side bet is actually bad.

The other problem is that the raise gives away a lot of information about my hand. My opponents will often use this against me later in the hand. In particular it is bad to tell three opponents that you have "a strong ace or a big pocket pair" which is what many players do in this situation. That is really useful information.

What caused the change? Is it based on a better understanding or a change in style, or was it based on a stake change and you'd end up reverting if you ever had to drop down to lower stakes again?

I would think it would be the opposite the higher you play... I would definately would not do it in a 2/4 game, but in a 10/29 game, I would n ost cases...How someone can consistently beat the 3/6 and below games is beyond me.
