If you are deciding just to call (i.e., you aren't considering a raise based on your fair share of equity or as a semi-bluff), than you would normally do it street by street.
However, there are a couple of exceptions:
1. If someone behind you figures to raise, you should take that into account and perhaps fold a draw that would otherwise be a marginal call.
2. If the table will often check the turn through, you can call with some draws that would be marginal folds (because you will get 2 cards rather than 1 for your call often enough).
