Bike 8/16 - Double Donk Disaster Bike 8/16 - Double Donk Disaster

First time playing in 2 years so slumming it at 8/16. Villain (bad old loose asian guy) limps in early position and I raise A8hh in the hijack. I have been active preflop and am losing (but not wildly stuck). 2 cold callers and one of the blinds come along. 5 ways for 2 bets.

Flop T86r. Checked to me, I bet, 3 players (including villain) call.

Turn 8s putting up a flush draw. Blind checks, villain donks, I raise, everyone else folds.

River Jr. Villain donks again. I . . .

I raise. You really only lose to J8 and he might not even three bet you with that.

Yup - I feel like he has 87 or 89 here a lot.

He could also have J9 or maybe picked up a flush draw on the turn with a Jack. I would raise the river especially against a villain as described. Maybe he overplays a worse 8 by 3 betting the river. bottom line, a loose bad villain is gonna have a lot of worse hands you can profit off of by raising.

I feel like he has a draw maybe with a pair. He is not putting you on the 8, so I think he's trying to represent that he has the 8...and maybe he does, but you have him outkicked. I think if you raise, the only hands he calls with is the straight or an 8...since I don't think he has the 8, I think I'd just call...plus I get to see his hand and get more info about him.

What got there on the river that plays the hand this way prior?

J8, and combo straight-flush draws.

As I implied, if you can actually find a raise-fold here, and you have the read to support it, then maybe you can raise here. But if you are going to call a re-raise, you probably should just call.

All of the hands people are identifying that you might lose to are a reason why you might just call with weaker hands you would have played this way. This hand is too high up in our range to just call.

Are you willing to fold if we get raised? If not, we better be good 66 percent of the time we get to showdown.

Even assuming we cannot fold (not a foregone conclusion), I have no idea how you get at needing to win 66% of the time we get to showdown to make raising +ev.

I don’t get this either - do you really think he plays Q9s like this (I don’t)?

This seems like an easy raise/cry call.

Based on pure equity of ranges its probably raise / call 3 bet on river.

However, badly want to see Villains hand losing min so I probably call river as played but I play bad.

Lol

I'll make raise fold when I die or if DonJuan and/or Ninawilliams informs me that is GTO optimal

Against described villain raise fold is easy. A) do you think he will bluff three bet? B) as played, what worse hands would three bet for value?

I play bad and too lazy to come up with ranges villain would 3 bet as bluff on river.

Hence why I play even worse and call rivet donk as played by OP

I don’t see how this is a disaster unless you fold.
