That seemed extremely conservative to me at first, but after thinking further about this I have to say it's a lot closer than what I initially thought.
If I use the book "Hold'em on the Come" as a reference, I estimate we have 6 clean outs total on the turn, not enough to call.
- 5 clean straight outs " subtract one out if only one of the cards in your hand is being used"
- 0 flush outs "when the board contains 3 suited cards, and you hold a fourth card of that suit ... worse than the third nut draw is rarely worth considering"
- 1 out because "if it's possible at all you might have the best hand, give yourself an extra out"
So thanks for your input Doug, my eagerness to get a read on people may be one of my many leaks.
