I cracked open a paperback copy of a book my sister suggested that I borrow years ago, which sat in her bookcase until two weeks ago. I found it when I had some time to kill at her house and read a few bits. It's called Chance by Amir D. Aczel a guide to gambling, love, the stock market, & just about everything else.

I bet some of you would enjoy it.

also i stumbled upon this video and laughed my ass off. Slightly racist but all in good fun stuff. I give you hispanic basketball nsfw:

Exceptional video and post Bob148!

Very OT but thoughts on Stud book & Hi-Low books below if you"ve read as worthwhile to read with goal to eventually play 8 game mix or smaller mix games live?

1. Seven Card Stud for Advanced Players (By Davd Sklansky).

2. High Low Split Poker, Seven Card Stud and Omaha Eight or Better (By: Ray Zee).

I haven’t read either of those.

If anyone misses me and is wondering why I haven't been posting much, it's because magic has taken over poker as the #1 obsession in my life. I've actually only played twice since July 2019. I'm performing at the Dallas Magic Club next week - if it goes well and there's enough interest I might post a link to a video of it here.

Without question, though, poker changed my life for the better. 100%. I'm actually working on an 8-year-anniversary post going through all of the ways my poker experience has given me new perspectives on other areas of my life.

I meant to put the above post in the LC thread - any mod mind moving it? Thanks in advance.

When I first read this, I thought MTG not actual magic. Hope you're having fun.

Looks like my playing poker once in 2020 streak is going to continue for quite a bit longer.

I just skimmed SSSFAP and thought it was basically the same book as HEPFAP but for SSS. I never really "got" HEPFAP or other books like WITHG or Intelligent Poker Player designed for playing in games where nobody limps first in and you're lucky if 2 players see a flop, because I basically never played in those games.

I read the O8 section of the second book in pretty decent detail, because I was borderline O8 obsessed for a short time, and I thought it wasn't as good as the O8 section of Jeff Hwang's book.

Live games are gonna konk out pretty quick here until this thing blows over. I wouldn't be shocked to see some closures given everything else is shutting down.

I own both of these books, and read them about 15 years ago. I've played a good amount of Stud and still play O8.

Honestly, can't remember anything about the books, but I'm sure they're fine, most likely the Stud book is better than the O8 book. These games haven't evolved as much as LHE, and nobody really knows how to play O8, so...

Both are most likely a little on the tight and straightforward side.

Has anyone heard from LeoDoc lately? This is shaping up to be Not A Good Time for ER doctors, and I'm thinking about him.

Thanks Captain R!

Tight and straight forward is how I play so should be phenomenal for me if I ever decide to play the epic 7-8 game mix games at Horseshoe in Hammond, Indiana

Not sure if those games run anymore but I play poker recreationally anyway now so easier to sleep reading poker books in lieu of the books on the market or reading about the market

Thank you very much DalTXColtsFan!

Probably going to read Jeff Hwang book 1st since PLO & Omaha 8 or better seems like a 2 birds in 1 stone for poker content I'd like to learn

Still runs most saturdays at 100-200; something silly like a 15 game mix

CP in MN closed at noon today.

Is online poker still a thing? Just thinking recreationally until this whole thing blows over. Or can you just get money in and out at this point?

Thanks for this 15 game mix seems epic and hopefully high enough stakes for Sean Snyder to one day travel to Indiana

Too risk averse for those stakes but what games are in 15 game mix sans standard 7/8 game mix?

Thank you very much for this.

BigO I've played for fun 3 handed with my best friend and another phenomenal friend was epic and argue best non Holdem game

PS: Will PM you if SeanSnyder actually shows up to to midwest in future so I can over leverage to play 100/200 game via epic 15 game mix

How many handed does 100/200 get at Horseshoe in Hammond?

Pm Electrical for more info. I think it goes almost every week with a list, but if you don’t start the game, hard to get a seat.

Always amazes me when people say 4/8 limit is unbeatable? I play at the Gardens...most nights there are at least 7 (4/8) tables running..all night! Yes rake is large, but you mediate that by playing fewer hands, especially with less than 4 people in pot, and the hands you are playing should be raised and multiway..(5 or more preferably). As for the money leaving the table, its more than compensated for by the new money CONSTANTLY! being infused into the games. If you can't beat a 4/8 game don't blame the rake.....look in the mirror!

Yabbut can you beat it for as much as minimum wage?
