happy new year! good luck to you all in 2020.

Maybe we only need a new thread for every decade now.

That's what the Live Low-Stakes NL forum does.

Or maybe we should just merge the limit hold'em forums with Draw & Other Poker.

Legit, I've only played O8 this decade.

Worm: You know what cheers me up when I'm feeling shitty?

Mike: What -- rolled up Aces over Kings?

Worm: No. Scooping a giant pot in O8 in the must-move, busting two players, and then not having to post my kill because the game breaks.

Sounds legit. Happy New Year

Thanks for including me but what did I do to make this prestigious list? DonJuan is online poker boss, DougL is friendliest guy on 2+2 and a prolific cyclist, I'm just a MAWG who lives near one of the handful of good live mid-stakes games and occasionally writes up a few hands from said game...

Lol quantph you literally made me laugh out loud when I read your modest analysis of yourself immediately post Vikings win vs Saints while rebalancing my Roth401k so thank you very much

Argue quantph poker trip reports are best in world and could make best seller via print or kindle edition

More importantly, three musketeers DonJuan, Quantph, DougL is on my life bucket list to play at one point Live LHE with and/or just grab a drink with

Maybe miracle 2020 see all of you in Vegas if I decide to make it to WSOP with my best friend to try and Pipe Dream a Holdem LHE bracelet in 2020

Tyty, very kind of you. If you ever visit Colorado maybe you can get DougL to play poker again, I've never played with him (that I know of).

Here was my favorite hand from last night's 30/60 game:

UTG (horribly loose aggressive Asian guy) raises, call on the button, SB folds and BB (annoying loose aggressive Asian gal) calls. Flop is 542, BB chks UTG bets button call BB calls. Turn is T same action. River 6, BB bets UTG calls button folds.

Spoiler:
Results: BB has 83 for the straight and chops with 53. I turn to the dealer (I'm in the one seat) and say "Look how great my poker life is"

Thanks for the Epic story as always

Figured Pottawatami in Milwaukee had best games but guess I need to head over with my best friend for a visit to enjoy skiing and poker

PS: Thought DougL posted last year he still plays at one of Colorado casinos?

When I play live in CO, it is at Ameristar. It has been a while. Think I played one week last year, in Vegas.

A bunch of SSLHE posters used to do an yearly Vegas trip. We've slowed down on that. A few of the current pros in the group still get a house in Vegas for the WSOP, so that's a chance to see people. I also want to meet Quantph IRL, so since we're <10 miles apart most workdays, seems shocking that hasn't happened. Guessing you might have a shot at a DonJuan sighting, though not sure. He was posting East Coast live poker stuff a while back...

maka2184, if you happen to find yourself in Boulder, plan on meeting lunch or dinner with the two of us. I think it was TylerCracker who got me to meet Kerowo in person. That's its own story.

Wow this is EPIC. Will make best effort basis to head to Boulder when market & work slows down so maybe March

Would ideally go when it's great weather to ski but may end of being April based on my best friend & wife schedule. Wife has Bday on March 15 so will probably be that weekend so I can teach her how to ski 1st time in her life

Im.90% in on going to Vegas during WSOP 1st time ever attempt to cash a LHE Donkament hopeful to meet DougL, Quantph, and DonJuan for drinks and poker

3 months until my self-ban is over. From now on - when I hear that someone only got one year in slammer and think that's not so bad - I'm going to punch myself in the face.

Hi .
In today’s game, anyone got some numbers for the river ?
Went to showdown and win% at SD ?
Mainly 3-6 max play online ?
Thx .

montreal i was thinking about our discussion.

I think even 5% to 10% shifts in showdown freq can be considered good, provided that you're erring with the marginal call/fold hands(which are 0ev either way so no big deal; i don't think a slightly low showdown stat is super exploitable).

much more important to me would be flop/turn bet or check range construction, as this sets you up for strong river situations.

How do these low limit games survive with the massive rake? I live in AZ and there is still a reasonable number of limit games. On busy nights there are maybe 4-5 tables each of 3/6 and 4/8 at my casino. Those games are total rake traps. I played for 4 hours in 3-6 and ended up +$60 but I paid maybe $30 or $40 in rake during that time. Just sitting at the table you can slowly see everyone's stacks shrinking. There has to be at least $100 leaving the table every hour which is usually more than most people buy in for at that stake.

How do players come back week after week, year after year of consistently losing or maybe breaking even/winning once in a while? Do people not realize that they're losing so much? They don't care? Or are there enough new players joining the pool to make up for the ones who do quit.

The same way people continue to dump money into any gambling game (slots, table games, scratchers). Some don't realize how much they are losing. Some do. Most are OK with it as the price of fun. Some have addictions.

Have you priced greens fees at your local golf club lately? Ski lift tickets?

I hope your right .
Just dunno if the difference between 40 to 45% to SD is huge for the win rate .
But 6max u need SD a lot

Lift tickets in Japan are super reasonable. About $50/day on average. If you don't want to ride a full day, you can buy a ticket for 6 hours, or 4 hours or 2 hours, at commensurate discount for the amount of time you want to ride.

Lift tickets at Mammoth? $189 Peak season. These vail and aspen guys bend you over.
