I am currently on pace for an epic good cash game month.

Heading to L.A. next week though. Got crushed there last year.

I'm not superstitious … but maybe I am a little bit stitious.

I did not have a winning session in November. I won all 5 December sessions. So far this year I have 2 losing sessions out of 2 casino visits. So here's my deep strategy question for you all …

Over the years, I feel like I've noticed a pattern. If I wear a shirt with a comic book character on it, I tend to lose. Otherwise, I win much more often than I lose. Obviously that has no effect on the cards I play, nor my opponents, but why risk it, right? I can wear sports jerseys or college shirts. So I don't wear shirts with comic book characters to the casino any more.

But after no winning November sessions, I switched it up, and I was wearing a different comic book shirt every session in December (Superman, Green Lantern, Silver Surfer, Mickey Mouse, and Eeyore). Obviously, December was backwards month. Fortunately, I had the skillz to realize that. Now that it is 2019, I've tried one session with a comic themed shirt and one without, and neither helped me run hot.

This weekend, should I wear a superhero shirt to the casino or not?

Or maybe it is my socks that control my luck and I should start tracking which socks I wear.

Have you tried different parking spots?

Track which Shuffle Master machines help you win, and which ones make you lose. The gremlins inside the machines have to like you for you to get good cards.

One time my friends and I were making jokes about there were blackjack gods and if you made sacrifices they would give you luck. So we'd call out "HEAR MY CRY O GODS OF BLACKJACK AND ACCEPT MY SACRIFICE" and then double hard 7 or something stupid like that. I guess it worked once too often and the pit critters started loitering. Then we were informed that if we didn't cut it out, we'd be asked to leave. We tried to clarify whether "it" meant yelling or playing blackjack poorly, but they didn't respond and we decided to go do something else.

I had to look up 'Eeyore':

Guaranteed loser. Stick w/ peeing in the lucky urinal like I do for certain success.

You of all people should know who Eeyore is...

I know who he is...

Have looked further. From wiki:

Eeyore (/ˈiːɔːr/ (About this soundlisten) EE-or) is a character in the Winnie-the-Pooh books by A. A. Milne. He is generally characterized as a pessimistic, gloomy, depressed, anhedonic, old grey stuffed donkey who is a friend of the title character, Winnie-the-Pooh.

Great Caesar's Ghost! Good read, holmfires!

Do you think those traits match chillrob? Is his avatar the most relevant ever?

Now that you mention it................

Also, let's be clear: We all must pass the days of our lives in a meaningless universe subject to whatever horrors the Great Machine brings us to. There is no use trying to deny it. And, when you consider the matter fully, all of us on here waste their time sitting at a table of corpses that have escaped from the morgue getting dealt a couple/few cards and tossing in circles of w/e chips are made of based on a guess as to how much those cards are worth.

Then we get pissy when we lose and wonder if comic themed shirts are the curse or cure. What a life.

Signed,

Howard (Eeyore) Beale.

I've always liked you. This reinforces that like, probably to your dismay, but whatever.

Eeyore's the best. He just keeps going, no matter what bad things happened to him that day. I recall stories where he got bounced into a river (I'm looking at you Tigger), lost his tail, had his house stolen, and for his birthday he got a popped balloon and an empty pot of honey. Yet he takes it all in stride.

Here is a short video of Eeyore quotes. I think I've heard most of these at a poker table. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQI0E1WCLMU

That settles it. I'm wearing my Eeyore shirt the next time I play poker. Other players will see it and associate me with a donkey. Meanwhile, I will play my best, and attempt to accept bad beats with the class and patience of Eeyore.

I only have a little bit of gray.
01-16-2019 , 11:38 PM
If that's your personal cloud then you have more grey than you think.

Tx, AF!

I never considered you anhedonic.

In other news I am exactly break even for the year too. But that's pretty easy to do if you haven't played any poker yet.

Fic I want to read: Eeyore goes to the Hundred-Acre Wood's Asian massage parlor.

Wood's massage?

Eeyore has been one of my poker nicknames since before 2010. Gonna have to pay me royalties if you want to refer to yourself as Eeyore.
