But how's the bike?

aaron again; also anyone else cool,

hey are you still in vegas? i'll be in town thursday evening, and then for a few nights next week. will probably do a hike in red rock or on mt. charleston, will probably play some 1/2 and/or o8. dms are open or whatever!

people wondering "who is this dork with 15k posts whom i have never heard of?",

hello friends. i think my main 2p2 accomplishments are:

1. i was the bubble boy for getting cash out of Neteller when they stopped serving americans in ~2006

2. at a 2p2 meetup in like 2009 i played a stud/8 pot with Lee Jones where i started with 8754 and Lee was showing a pair of jacks with no low possible and i bricked out and he scooped

TR of the last 2.5 since you last posted?

It would be good to reconnect, but I'm not sure I can do it. My schedule is kind of crowded this coming week/weekend (family and friends I've seen more recently than 10 years ago are in town). As you start to flesh out whatever things you're going to do out here, PM me and we'll see what happens.

Always figured you could count outs. The issue was always about then using that information to do anything other than "I raise and you fold!"

The brain is slower than usual.

And I'd go with option B, saved your life. Now buy another one, cause they're only good for one impact as I'm sure you know. Or check out the Giro crash replacement here: https://www.giro.com/cycling-faqs

Hope you're feeling better Doug!
Thanks. The back of the helmet is cracked a bit, so probably hit the helmet. Still, weak evidence.

Correct. Mistakes were made.

fair enough. Not sure they'd help, but as someone who's going to be on a trainer for the next 2+ months, can't argue.

Got a great table draw in this months big tourney. My vpip was probably 60% overall. Had decent lead near the bubble then I got caught bluffing, and then this happened:

Mp raise 2.5x, call, I call AJo, blinds fold.

AK6r

Checks through

2o

Mp bets 2/3 pot, fold, I call.

3o

Mp bets 1/2 pot.

With 3/4 pot left in my stack, self preservation came to mind and I folded what should be an 0ev bluffcatcher in equilibrium ( implies that I don’t think AT should put in such action).

Managed to cash 4x the buy in.

Fold pre.
10-04-2019 , 01:45 PM
I fold AJo vs button + 4 for 2.5x with normal size ante. Vs button + 3 you’re facing many more hands that you can dominate.

Wow just took the sickest beat yesterday. Normally don’t post bad beat stories but this one was awful.

Two limps to me in the co with A3hh. I limp. Button raise, sb call, first limper 3bets, calls to button who caps, all call.

Flop 245 rainbow. Checks to me, I bet, button raises, sb and limper calls, I 3bet, button 4bets, sb and limper call.

Turn 8. Sb bets out. Limper folds muttering something about 67, but I’m not convinced so I raise, button calls, sb 3bets, now I’m convinced so I call. Button folds.

River 4. Sb bets, and I call. He slowrolls pocket 88’s.... Wtf.

belated and miniature vegas tr:

i'd hoped to hang around for a few days but i had to get back home by saturday, before snow and below-freezing temperatures would ruin my apples (sup autumn weather).

in spite of the short window, i lucked out with some cooler temps in the desert and hiked turtlehead peak for the second time in 12 years. the trail actually has some markings now! and the views from the top are still world class.

aaron made some time so we could grab dinner. we found a filipino restaurant in a strip mall -- chicken adobo ftw.

we decided it had been eight or nine years since our last meeting (a hike to cathedral rock with some combination of bellatrix, doug, and doug's wife). we caught up on the intervening time and it looked like this:

aaron:
* had lived in 1 place in 1 city
* had had 1 job with 1 employer

tyler:
* had lived in 7 places in 4 cities
* had had 3 jobs with 3 employers plus a year of wandering around

not remotely surprising to anyone who knows either of us, but a fun example of the different paths people find through life.

final score:
* aaron: still a kind human
* vegas: still an absurd yet amusing experiment in late-stage capitalism where everyone drives like an *******
* net elevation gain (on foot): ~2100' (~650m)
* hands of poker played: 0
* number of small regional chain restaurants for which i have an unhealthy lust that have locations in vegas: 3
* snow in my back yard since monday, when it was 65F (18C) and i was doing yard work in a t-shirt: 11" (28cm) (sup autumn weather)

lol I am trying to find the humor of it. The best part was that after the hand was over, the lady that was playing 80%+ vpip and who capped it said, “wow, I didn’t know you played a3! You usually never play that hand.”

I never said anything to her about playing 24. (She flopped a wheel and without prompting declared “the suited makes all the difference. Usually I do not play that hand!”)

Lulz.

It's hard but I try to make big mental notes on when I suck out on people so that I remember that outs not only taketh but giveth. Human brain naturally remembers negative experiences more than positive so we have to conciously remind ourselves of positive swings because our brain won't fixate on them like negative swings.

E.g., I coolered the crap out of an NL home game buddy when it was his tptk v my tpgk in a 3-bet pot and I two paired my kicker. He didn't believe my turn raise because the turn would've been a brick for anyone with a sane 3-bet range (limit light 3-betting has made me a 3-bet madman in NL). Another e.g., I was dominated pre a bunch of times but got great flops last session.
