I know! That game is so much fun once you embrace the LAGTAG. Take those suited connectors into the flop 6-ways bro, come on!

i like playing lots of hands, raising a lot, and sucking out. i find it actually has lower variance than nittag style. seems counterintuitive. at first glance it might seem to be how the fish play, but i think the difference is how lagtags read and play situations and correctly sense and calculate equity.

Equity is everything in LHE and folding when you have equity to do something else is costly.

Hey, would anyone in NJ be able to tell me if you're allowed to use HUDs like pokertracker or HEM on Pokerstars, PartyPoker, or WSOP?

I guess writing out a short email and sending a copy to each of the aforementioned sites' support might be worth trying (I'm not from NJ, it's not that I'm keeping the info from you intentionally)

As it turns out I am not crazy, but I do run sad in some mixed game spots.

Like Bruce making #1 against my #2 in 2-7td

Not just once

Re: 2019 NC/LC THREAD - No problem

May not be around much for a little while. There is evidence that I crashed my bike last week on a dirt road on my way home from a ride. Looks like I managed to ride home about a mile with a concussion and a broken pelvis, but there's a 4 hour hole in my memory that includes that time. I came to in the hospital with my wife reporting that I'd been in a 2-4 minute loop for about the last 3 hours. Head feels good enough to look at a screen for a short while today, so I spent the last 15 minutes looking at the CT scan I got this morning. Assume that if there is a spot that a non-pro can spot as non-symmetrical and broken looking, that it probably is broken. Sad feeling that there might be some displaced bits in the non-displaced fracture, but I guess that's why the pro will explain it to me on Thursday.

Could be a little while before full-time screen time is allowed. Hoping that part will go quickly, as laying on the couch has gotten a bit boring. Who'd think that was possible?

Hope everyone here is having a much better week.

Wow Doug. You must be one tough son of a gun to get yourself home in that kind of condition. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery! I'll think of you every time I get on my bike this fall.

But how's the bike?

I just heard of a technique to create four-hour gaps in one's memory. Time flies if you don't remember it!

I am, thanks!

....

In all seriousness, brain-injury stuff can be unpredictable and sometimes challenging. I hope none of those challenges come to pass in your recovery.

If you read this before you're banned from screen time, something that might help you pass the time (and also help your brain) is to try to do some common tasks with your non-dominant hand (such as writing your thoughts, drawing, eating, brushing your teeth). It will make everything take longer (but you've got time on your hands), and there are some cognitive benefits. It's a low-key sort of thing, but it will give you another distraction to fight off the boredom and frustration that comes with knowing that you're mostly supposed to be resting.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Doug! I'll remember to recheck the fit on my helmet before I ride again...

It looks OK. My bike repairman buddy offered to take a look at it. I'll be off it for about 3 months, so more news in a while. Looks like I bravely took the hit for it. Expert question, imo.

Thanks. I'm bouncing between 2 camps. (A) my $175 fancy Giro MIPS concussion resistant helmet did no good. See? Haz concussion. (B) it saved my life. No way to know. Could be I hit my head below the helmet and I needed a more full covering helmet to ride off road? No way to know. One thing my GP was clear on was not to get another concussion while having symptoms.

Thanks for the fun response. Humor is good and it made me smile.

Re: 2019 NC/LC THREAD - No problem

Glad to hear you survived Doug!

I was sitting at a red light a couple of months ago and saw a bicyclist run the red the other way and get nailed by a USPS mail van going about 30-35. Guy flew all the way across the intersection and landed at the other crosswalk. Pretty sure his helmet saved his life, he got crushed by the mail van.

Bicycles are dangerous.

It's dangerous to forget that, while laws may favor you, cars are still gonna destroy you if they forget that.

Only in reference to Captain R*, get well soon Doug, RIP brain

I bike commuted for three years and I never ran reds. Floating stop signs is actually safer than stopping at them, but running red lights is a baaaad idea.

Most bicyclists in their heads: "I'm not in a car, I'm not a pedestrian, I AM A GOD!"

Or too dumb to stay down. The scary part is that the fracking road is little traveled. Could have been hours before anyone saw me. 99% of the rest of that ride, help would have shown up in 2 minutes. Good news, life insurance paid up.

Colorado passed the option for communities to allow the Idaho stop -- a bike may treat a stop sign as a yield and red light as a stop sign. Also allows bikes to move up to the front of the line at either, when there's a line of stopped cars. From what I recall, there is good data that this is safer, but you piss off a guy in a 6000 pound truck at your own risk.

If I had stayed passed out, at least some group of people could have benefited.

What kind of premium do I need to pay for you to add me to your beneficiary list?

Stay down my friend, concussions are serious business. My son got a concussion playing baseball, he wasn't the same for 6 months. He's also not good at math, I blame the concussion, 'cause it's not obviously not genetics. I can count outs!

I'd have guessed that if you hit below the helmet you'd have a big bruise/bump to prove it. If not, does the helmet have some indication where you made contact? You obviously hit something hard, it should've left a mark on something.

And I'd go with option B, saved your life. Now buy another one, cause they're only good for one impact as I'm sure you know. Or check out the Giro crash replacement here: https://www.giro.com/cycling-faqs

Hope you're feeling better Doug!
