It was fun, LA. Started out the trip buried $400, but I’m walking out $1000 in the black after 22 hours of play. 4 hours at hustler and 18 at LA’s friendliest. Maybe next time you’ll be able to cash in my dirhams.

Use the bathroom frequently. Consume enough liquids that you have to constantly get up and move around. Ignore everyone at the table except for the dealer. Do not pal it up. Talk **** in your head.

All of that keeps me grounded in the reality of the game. It's when I don't do 4/5 of those things that I start getting into trouble.

I'm a bit of a blind nit, which is bad because it makes me want to sit at the table too long. Are you getting up for a full orbit then hopping back in when the BB is back to you or coming back quickly enough to post in the cutoff?

I guess keeping my mental game sharp is worth sacrificing some of my blind nit EV. Especially in NL.

I won a satellite for 5 bucks and sold 75% of myself.

Took first place.

There’s a puppy sleeping with his head on my lap on an outside couch.

I never miss a full orbit unless I have good reason for doing so: Eating, topping up, phone call. Generally it's a bathroom break and a stop at the beverage station or something along those lines.

The thing that keeps me in the best headspace is ignoring the other players and trying to keep personality out of it. For some reason that's a major tilting point for me.

why do you never miss a full orbit?

where do you guys intentionally take your breaks?
im usually sitting out after folding UTG and seeing the flop (this does not make sense, i am dealt, im not missing out on the jackpot), for a full orbit (usually back by utg1 or utg and dumb phone and recall stacks for a hand or 2). i actually will never post early. i literally just learned i can come in behind for free, was always posting in bb as new player (2009 online habit?)

how do you profile when....
someone a) leaves on their button, sans "bad beat"; b) posts on a kill, c) posts utg, +1,2
^ are they a mark?
i will never leave a seat button through mp, and i have definitely made visual and physical reads, dealer stop giving me cards send me home - when is this bad?

I usually take my bathroom breaks after seeing my hand UTG+1. I’ll look at my first card and if it’s under an 8, I’ll ask the dealer to deal me in UTG. That’s usually enough time to go pee. Wash my hands/face and get back to a hand UTG. If not, no big deal because I’m not playing many hands UTG anyways. So I’ll be back in time to post my BB, or buy the button.

That was quite the impressive parlay sir. Congrats to your pup. I imagine he's making reservations for 2 (or 3, if there's an S.O.? I can't remember) at Sizzler as we speak.

Onward and upward

I try not to miss full orbits because I hate when only play blinds through prime position then walk off. Keep the game going and full or gtfo the table. The Walking Dead who play four hands out of 9? Plz no

Depending on the table, posting on a kill could be THE move. Those questions are heavily table/player dependent. Generally a poor move but if chips are flying you want in on the action, right?

I smoke rocks.

Sometimes if you wish for a chop, you river a 3 out scoop for a 3:1 chip lead heads up propelling you to victory.

Also, we goin sizzla.

Also, good work Bob. Forgot to congratulate success.
08-27-2019 , 08:16 PM
Thanks I hope you’re enjoying the rocks. Not my thing but I’m not one to judge.

If they miss hands from the free positions frequently they’re actually missing a lot of ev. I think it’s quite likely that it’s impossible to be a long term winner in most realistic scenarios if you miss too many hands.

Can't win if you don't play.

Also I don't truly smoke rocks. I used to snort them though. Cocaine's a helluva drug.

After all the accusations of cheating and being a bot, as well as all of the angry tirades that have been thrown in my direction in the chat box over the past 17 years, I’ve come to the point where the site end boss denies action silently.

It’s quiet and peaceful, for now.

My come back to poker is a downswing. Oh well. Study study.
08-29-2019 , 12:24 PM
I'm a winning player over a very large sample of years/hours. I'm having one of the best years of my poker career. I just had two bad but not crazy bad outings. I just couldn't win a hand in the last couple day's. I made some mistakes but mostly was the victim of some bad beats. When this happens I somehow forget I'm a winning player. I become completely unmotivated to study or play. It' completely irrational. I end up taking several days off. I talk myself out of playing.

I clearly need to learn how to deal with the downswings better than I do.
08-29-2019 , 12:26 PM
How many buy-ins?
08-29-2019 , 02:04 PM
Down about 6 buyins NL and 3 LHE. Every session the past couple months has been 1.5-2 buy-ins down. LHE I feel like I know what I'm doing and mistakes are cheap so psychologically I'm ok. NL I'm trying to learn quickly but don't trust my judgement yet so I feel like a total fish.

Pretty sure I'm just running bad. E.g. big cards are whiffing flops non stop and I literally didn't get dealt 1 suited connector in 4 hours last night.
08-29-2019 , 09:34 PM
Been feeling that for years, friend. NL is stupid anyway.
08-31-2019 , 07:40 PM
My first session in months where I lost less than a buy in. Made some good plays too. Yay.

Anyways a dealer outed a pro at the table. I suspected he was, but best I can tell he's pretty nitty. Very surprised to see a young cleancut nit tag pro trying to grind out 8/16 LHE and 1/3 NL (min wage nearby is $15/hr). Also surprised a dealer was like "so, how's the pro life?!" at the table lol.
