"I'm gonna make this a 6/12 table. Hang on Indy, we going for a wide!"

(You probably need to be young and yellow to use this one.)

I also lifted this out of Jesse's blog:

"You think I care about money? You think I care about money?? I could lose this (points to stack) every day for 15 years and I'd still have more money than you."

Really wanted Radio Mike's guest blog on here - it's a classic must read IMO!

TDK I'm enjoying your blog especially the PLO parts which is my favorite poker game.

I kind of have a "blog" that started out as a difficult time dealing with the wife's disapproval of my poker habit and ended up as a personal blog for those who felt "invested in my success": https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/2...sment-1641580/

I like big POTS and I cannot lie
And you other grinders can't deny
That when a card's a king and the other one's an ace and the flop gets thrown in place you get STUNG
Wanna throw up tough cause you notice that flop was FLUFF
The ace and the king ain't pairin'
You're pissed and you can't stop swearin'

That's as far as I got

EDIT: But my plan is for it to be called "Baby's got Stack"

Howard you were there at CAZ when I bought into the 8/16 game for 4 or 5 racks and multiple players asked that I be forced to color up because it was impacting their view of the table.

Can't you calm them down with "don't you realize that all of these are in play?"
01-16-2018 , 11:17 AM
There are a few ppl that buy in for many racks between the 8-16 LHE and 0E. Sometimes it's me and I explain that I have to buy in for all of my cash or I might play BJ.

What?! Hollywood Park has a 15/30 running?!

I move out of the country and the world completely changes.

When jamming goes right: a donkey's story

5 way capped pre and I have 8d5d.

I bet 3 bet a 6d4d2c flop.

A beautiful 7s on the turn.

And that's how you go from stuck to winning 2.5 bets an hour.

Also, this illustrates how stupid back raising is because I would've gladly folded my hand if you'd have just raised when you're supposed to.

Thanks man! We've actually played some PLO together on Global Poker (neither of us are very disguised). I will try to remember to check out your blog when I get back to town.

I just posted my LAPC Day 2 blog for the $350 O8 event. I can't access direct links for my posts using Safari and the Wordpress app doesn't give me any direct links either. Hence, the "technology challenged in Commerce" comment.

Note: Links or tweets on this site never open for me on my phone but that blog link worked - perhaps because it's on 2p2? I read the initial post and skimmed some of the responses... I can tell I will like it already!

I don't know how much your life has changed since that first post, but if you are really pulling down a six figure salary your wife bugging out over a $1000 annual gambling budget is absurd. Also, you're really not giving yourself much of a chance with that kind of bankroll. I assume you are playing small stakes, but even at $4/$8 a $1k downswing isn't uncommon - even for a winning player. Perhaps this has all been addressed later in the thread. I will keep reading!

No, it's not.

As much as we poker players have normalized $1,000 swings and money disappearing into the aether, the truth is that 90% of the population considers this abnormal. People can barely stand the variance in mutual funds for the stock market (where EV is positive), much less gambling (where EV can be positive or negative).

If you were to word associate "gambling", I bet "addiction" would come up an awful lot. Specifically, it sounds like the beginning of a very slippery slope. Just like nobody jumps straight from not using drugs to shooting heroin into their neck, nobody goes from not gambling to losing their life savings in one night. It starts off legitimately and as a one time event - I broke my leg and need morphine / I signed up for a charity tournament. Then it becomes chronic. Then it expands. Then there's dishonesty. And while there are plenty of offramps and some people move down the path slower than others, the fact is that being on the road of vice is a pretty dangerous place to be.

Make an agreement and stick with it.

It will last for infinity if he only plays X hours per year and only loses 1000/X dollars per hour.

His original post was over a year ago. Maybe you know more about his story than I do but in the one post I read, he didn't sound like a serious threat for addiction.

When I said $1000 wasn't giving himself much of a chance, I just meant it was quite plausible for someone that loses $6/hour to be out of action by mid-February.

A $3k annual bankroll would make a lot more sense, especially if he is spending time away from the table trying to get better.
