Kids don't help with crops any more, we should cancel summer vacation and have year round school.

When you're doing an internship with overtime every week in between intense semesters, what's the difference?

It ain't really like Jersey.

Fair warning, they wear TWO pairs of stockings in the strip clubs, and you can't touch NUTHIN.

It was 20 years ago, but I stayed at L'Auberge Del Mar, which was a super nice hotel. I met some very cool people in the hot tub overlooking the ocean at sunset with tiki torches around the hot tub, including some horse owners from the track. It is a block from the beach. Another good option at sunset was the wine bar a block up the hill.

I usually spend an evening every month or two going out to help homeless people in the city. It is organized through a Catholic church. We bring them sandwiches, snacks, lemonade/ice water or coffee/hot chocolate (depending on the weather), and some other supplies. Yes, they love new socks. Backpacks are also greatly appreciated.

Once I gave out the last 2 sandwiches to someone who was clearly very hungry. Then someone else walked up who said he hadn't eaten that day. I said I was sorry but we were out of sandwiches. Then the guy with two gave one of his to the new guy. Things like that are not uncommon.

If you want to do a good deed, just talk to a homeless person, even if you don't give them any money. So many people totally ignore them that loneliness is one of the worst parts of being homeless.

In California, I'm way more meh about panhandlers, because a large percentage of panhandlers aren't homeless and a large percentage of homeless aren't panhandlers.

When I lived in Massachusetts, homeless panhandlers were way more likely to have a normal conversation. Maybe it was my age at the time, but a ton of people felt compelled to give me advice.

Around here everyone just launches into their tale of woe and if it becomes clear you're not going to drop a fiver they move on because it cuts into their hourly. I tend to do more institutional giving as a result.

I’ll be playing the 20/40 at MGM National Harbor tomorrow if anyone happens to be there and wants to say hey.

If anyone is a regular in that game PM me anyway - have some questions.

Changed my mind and will head off to LV instead and stay in either Bellagio, Venetian or Aria for an upscale experience bec going in the ocean is nice and all but since I don't have a honey - and I'm never going to get one - there's not much else to do in Carlsbad.

More Summer vacation fun from the last few months.

I went to Russia for the World Cup for like 5 days or so. I flew into St. Petersburg on a Thursday or Friday to watch two losers play the 3rd place match. Belgium vs England. Belgium ended up winning, but that's not the story.

Being an obnoxious American, my friend and I bought Team USA drinking shirts to wear to the match, because 'merica. We were dressed in USA flag bandanas, USA drinking team baseball jerseys, USA flag socks. Basically oozing freedom. The journey to the stadium in St. Petersburgh is pretty damn cool, because you have to walk through a park. It's maybe a .5-1 mile journey through said park. Everyone there is getting pumped for the world cup, wearing their England + Belgium gear.

We're the only two people wearing American gear. EVERYONE wants to take pictures with us. Every time we got done taking one set of photos, we were bombarded by more groups of people. Before doing this walk through the park, I felt like we were going to get dirty looks for being Americans in Russia, but it was quite the opposite. People love Americans. One of the more interesting parts about this is that since Americanism is usually being white or black according to media, a few people questioned if I was really American, because Filipino American and what not. It's kind of unfortunate that there really aren't stories of non-white or black Americans to where people don't question your American-ness, but whatever. That's not what this post is about.

After the game, we end up going to a bar that's just outside of our Airbnb, and meet Russians wearing Argentina gear, and they called me out because of my American apparel. We end up drinking until 3 or 4 in the morning. We have a a train to catch at like 7am to head to Moscow for the finals. End up waking up on time, still drunk with all my clothes and bags packed. We jump in a taxi, and are cutting it very close to make the train. We make the train with a minute to spare. But I realize I left my damn camera in the Taxi.

Russia has a taxi service app that requests taxis for you, kinda like an uber, but for taxis, not ubers or lyfts. So I call my taxi driver, to ask him if he has my camera, he doesn't speak English obvs. I ask my new Russian Comrades to try and contact the guy for me and his phone goes straight to voicemail. It goes straight to voicemail for at least 1.5 months now. My comrade has been going back and forth with the taxi company trying to get a hold of the guy, and I've been doing the same, but the taxi company doesn't speak English either, so it's an ordeal. I end up getting some feedback from the taxi company and they said the guy doesn't have it in his car, and it's probably stolen. I can put in a police report of I'd like, which I will because my credit card company will reimburse me up to $500.

All in all, Russians that you get drunk with are cool people. Russian food is decent. They don't drink white Russians in Russia. My new Russian friend confirmed this by saying "this drink did not exist here until the world cup." St. Petersburg is gorgeous. If you can get a visa to get into the country, you should absolutely do it. Moscow is HUGE and very industrial/city like. In general, Russians are cool, but you should never leave your **** in a taxi if you don't speak Russian.

I have had to pull my drunk friends back from the railing. I assume not every drunk has a sober friend within tackling distance.

I've had to pull them back from the railing on the Venetian canal too.

LOL

My wife and I jokingly refer to this as "the dance."

"Where are you from?"
"Where are you REALLY from?"
"Where were you born?"
"Where were your parents born?"

She has less patience for it than I do, but I will give 100% truthful / 0% helpful answers to those questions just to watch them be confused.

Attaboy, Howard! In Vegas it's probably a lot easier to rent a honey anyway. If you really want sand in your crack there's Mandalay Bay.

And don't worry, the Versa will make it just fine.

I thought these new-fangled phones can speak whatever language you want for you.

Went to a small key in Belize. By far the most chill vacation ive been on. Beach front cottage, gourmet food, all water activities, sailing, scuba, kayak, snorkeling, fishing. Saw turtles, rays, sharks, family of manatees. Only 15 cottages, tiki bar, dining hall and spa on island. Coco plum island resort for the win.

I will be back.

View from hammock on porch.

I'm the same as you. I always say I'm from Southern California. You can hear the surfer bro in my accent.

My wife is like a 5th generation Chinese. That makes her more American than most Americans of European descent. We also like to make fun of fobby Asians behind closed doors, because micro-aggressions aren't for the whites only.

My wife was born in Hong Kong, which is one of the reasons she's way more nonchalant about people assuming she identifies as Chinese, and also is moderately impatient when I do my patriotic duty to educate the foreigners (and the white people who live in landlocked counties) what America is.

Edit: I should call it "The Gospel of Murca"
