Flying to LA today for LAPC. I've never played anywhere but Commerce. Any other recommendations for LHE? I feel like checking a new place out after I land. I don't necessarily want or need to play $20/$40. A good $8/$16 (or $9/$18?) would be cool.

Actually scratch that. I should probably be playing o8 or HORSE mix today. Any suggestions?

They have good 20/40 OE often at Hollywood Park, right by LAX.

Ooh. Perfect. Thanks.

They don't appear to be on Bravo. Is there a way to see what games are running without being there?

They have these things called telephones.

Most places have an app you can use. Dialing a number and speaking to a human sounds like painful work.

The bike has the softest 20/40 I've ever played in and it's a nice room with good people and great hosts.

I might check that out. I'm at Hollywood Park right now and the 20/40 O8 game is not going.

What I was really hoping to do was avoid any type of LA traffic today.

Do you know what the $12/$24 Mix is? And what's BOE? Badugi, O8, Stud 8?

Also, here's how to piss off a table of 4-8 players:

New game starts, there are 4 raises pf in the first hour, and you be the one that's made 3 of them.
01-14-2018 , 10:06 PM
And here's how to raise questions at an $8/$16 table: sit down with $2000.

Many years ago I was very drunk at Fort McDowell and bought into the 3-6 game for 13 racks. An hour later a buddy showed up and exclaimed WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON HERE? to which I replied: 'I think I'm stuck $50.'
01-14-2018 , 10:40 PM
I did move over from a $15/$30 failed game start.

I also sat in a $3/$6 game with $1676 last Monday night. That made my blog.

Just out of curiosity, how long did you sit around refreshing the screen until you caved and called?
01-14-2018 , 10:49 PM
I didn't call. I just went there. It was like 5 min from my car rental pickup.

But I asked that question before I took off in a plane so I figured I'd have an answer by the time I landed.

That's what it should be, but if it's at Bicycle it is probably BigO8 (5 card) instead of regular O8, and may be Super Stud 8 also. Call to check, if you can muster the energy.

I dunno, casino hopping in LA traffic seems like a decent alternative. Think of all the free time you have to sit and gripe about how nobody uses Bravo.
01-14-2018 , 11:31 PM
Lol. You guys are funny. I see The Bike has live updates on Poker Atlas but I didn't see any for HPC.

I guess I'm spoiled because all the WA rooms I play in have live updates.

This whole chop after one player limps in thing @ HPC is killing me.

I feel like I'm playing a 3/6 game right now. They are so passive too.

And I'm helpless to take advantage:

QQ+: 0 times
JJ: Once, won with cbet
TT: Once, won on KJxJK board
88-99: 0 times
77: 3 times, one set, won on turn
AK: 0-3
AQ: 1-2
AJs: Once, won with cbet
KQs-JTs: ZERO TIMES
T9s: 0 times
KQo: I've had a few wins with
KJo: played it once and got the T9xQ board for my only decent pot of the day.

Been playing 6+ hours. Super card dead! I hardly ever look like such a nit.

Clearly the best player in the game. Need to work on your pithy sayings. Get your crazy LAG image going, and the next time the 20/40 gang sees you, you'll seem like a LA tourist spashing the pot, building monster stacks, and ruining lives.

Used to play in a O/8 game where I was the only person who regularly raised. At some point, it is a stretch to come up with variations on "I felt lucky on that one" and "you can't win a big one if you don't build a big one". Wish I had known Jesse's king-maker pot rap at that time.

"What? It's no fun unless the pot is $(10 BB rounded up to the next multiple of $50)."
