It was spectacular as always. Dinner is my last memory on Monday before I became a belligerent mess after a long day of drinking in the sun. I took a couple bags of filets home with me and leo doc ought to have enough for himself and at least a friend or two. Good chance mine will be gone before the weekend is over.
Although this is probably our 6th trip or so out there together, this one was a little different and especially memorable. The gal is a good friend of mine and the girlfriend of a very good friend that I play poker with. We were all hanging out together on Saturday night in San Diego aka getting blackout drunk, with me having an 8am flight to NOLA on Sunday morning. At around 4am Sunday she remarked that she was jealous I was going, so I said "just come with me then". After a few drunken rounds of "is this really happening?" between her, her boyfriend and me, she had a plane ticket.
Just like one of our last trips with everyone's favorite friendly neighborhood (ex)mod private joker, it was a blast to introduce someone to fishing that had very little experience with it as it's basically my only pure source of entertainment in life that I can share with other people. Everything else involves a casino or destroying your liver. On top of that, there's the culture shock of being around a bunch of people that are almost surely unlike anyone you've ever met before. We also took a little detour on Tuesday to ride around the bayou on John's boat and look for alligators. Leo doc, his son and I have all seen plenty of gators out there while fishing and just hanging out, but she hadn't, and the search for them took us to some really beautiful places that look a lot different than where we generally fish, so I really enjoyed that as well. And, of course, the food. Still my #1 place I've ever been for food and don't expect it will ever change.
