Global is awesome. I vouch for it. I even wrote a long article about it on my blog. I'd link but I am out and about. But I don't even think they offer LHE bigger than $5/$10.

Fortunately the PLO action is plentiful and very good.

I owe $9000+ in taxes, even after sending in $6.5k throughout 2017.

Holy ****.

This is my life?

1. thinly veiled brag or
2. another example of how gamblers get ****ed on taxes

lol @ paying an estimated $6500 in taxes "waaaaaaaaaaaaa"

Here are the actual taxes I paid out of my paycheck in 2017 (this is only ~half of the taxes we paid, my wife makes pretty much the same as I do):

Federal: $19,400
Social Security: $7,200
Medicare: $1,700
State: $2,500

I haven't finalized my taxes yet, but I'll end up owing more I'm sure because we sold one house and bought another and I sold a ton of stock to make it so that even though our new house was almost $150k more than the previous house, we had basically the same remaining balance on our mortgage, so it should all be paid off in 5 years or so.

Personally I think everyone should have to pay the tax man themselves, everyone should get some sticker shock.

Like that $6500 is the same $6500 you'd pay when working a job. They just didn't withhold it.

Bless you all for paying your taxes. What happens when the fed collapses?

Hint: Uh-ohz

Pretty sure $6500+$9000 = $15.5k?

Having taxes withheld from paychecks is way less painful. You don't even notice it really. Plus you usually get some back! Yay! Paying massive lump sums is pretty brutal. I thought sending in a few thousand quarterly would ease the blow, but I'm feeling this blow. It is quite a bit more than I was expecting, although I did take the over when my wife set the line at $5k this morning.

I guess I will send in bigger quarterly payments this year? Puke.

Hate to break the news but given you were "short" this year, you will be required to pay more...it's not a choice.....there is a formula
03-14-2018 , 12:36 AM
One year i got a letter from the IRS saying I owed an extra $7k in taxes for a return from several years back. Being that I am incompetent, I hired a Tax person and they went through my taxes from that year, and it turned out I counted some income twice and the IRS ended up having to pay me $10k.

KARMA beeyatch!

I believe that formula is that if you don't prepay (either have withheld or have paid quarterly) 90% of your actual tax bill or 90% of your previous tax bill, you get penalized for the amount above the higher one.

The penalty is ridiculously small though. Not that big a deal at all

The government is busy fighting a losing battle against the 'Ukrainians, Tatars and Jews.' They have to time to look at a poker forum.
03-14-2018 , 12:23 PM
Even if they looked at it, I'm going to pay it, so...
03-14-2018 , 12:56 PM
Ukrainian potato jews?
03-14-2018 , 02:33 PM
If you've ever wondered what 'Fake News' is that's it right there. 'Ukrainians', ok, Putin's got a problem w/ them. 'Jew?' We're used to it. But 'Tatars' of all things? That's a stretch.

There are things worse than getting busted for tax evasion.

If you had to assign a probability that someone who loses a bunch of chips playing limit and complains about it not being no-limit is also in fact a bad no-limit player, what would it be?

I would take under 100%, but probably higher than 93%.

I know a long term NL winner that I've heard say stuff like this as recently as last night. I would consider anyone making money in the long run at poker "good."

Finally stopped being a nit and raised the second nuts in position as I'm supposed to. In a $50 splash pot!

4-8 w/kill, kill pot, OTB w 7Q

Four limps, I limp, SB raises, BB folds

Flop 28J

CHECKS AROUND? WTF

Turn A

SB bets, fold fold fold, call, we call ldo

river 9

SB bets, CO calls, I ponder for a moment because I usually just call here to give SB a glimmer of hope...but nah I raise, both call, scoop big ol' pot.
