There’s a straddle, a couple of cold-callers, and the BB looks up from his phone and calls. Straddler checks his option and BB says, “Oh, it was live? If I’d known that, I wouldn’t have called.”

Lock the doors.

We had a wild man today who straddled every time. I was the button for this fun and couldn't find a hand esp bec he was raising blind, always. You've got to take that into account a bit. But, in such a great seat, did Howard get any of the money? Well, YES! An entire $42.

So 10.5 bigs?
06-24-2018 , 03:23 AM
Not quite. This guy played a hand blind every street where he bet if checked to and raised if bet to. No, he didn't leave a winner.
06-24-2018 , 03:36 AM
He made a guy stop at 8-bets on the turn w/ the other guy having the second nut flush (that's the level of respect he'd created, 8-bets w/ the second nuts, lol) and the character had the Ace of the suit. No he didn't win the hand.

You move to L.A. or sumthin?

From the Department of Redundancy Department, today at the Orleans:

EIGHT BETS AT 4/8?!

That sounds like at least a mediocre steak dinner to me.
06-24-2018 , 06:07 PM
It was 8-16. I haven't sat at a table w/ a player like that in years.
06-24-2018 , 06:08 PM
I've done that at 2-4 a number of times for funsies after a decent win at 1-2 HE or Omaha HI.

But then my decent win gets lit on fire in like two hours of 2-4 because honestly it adds up quick

If you're playing in the LHE $10k, I have $2k in lammers I'll sell for $1950. Send PM.
06-25-2018 , 09:31 PM
I love a good 2.5% discount.
06-25-2018 , 09:47 PM
$50 is -2 hours of EV for an average poker player!
06-25-2018 , 09:55 PM
IME demand is extremely inelastic. As a customer you're either planning to play at least $2000 in events, in which case $50 is more than enough to reimburse you the trxn cost of arranging a 30 second meeting with someone else already at the Rio. Or you're not planning to play, in which case the discount needs to be enough to compensate you for the risk and effort of finding another buyer yourself (and offering them a discount if needed), or opp cost/effort to change your plans to play the event if you can't find a secondary buyer.

Once I sold them at face value to a guy I knew from my local games. After winning a sat I thought better of playing a $1500 TD27 because I re-estimated that I'd be slightly -EV in that field. But I wouldn't have offered much discount because of the "fun value" of playing the event.

I've always paid face and sold face the one time I had them to sell between friends, but have heard about people getting them for cheaper. Would've saved me $50 if someone was offering them when I was there, esp since I would just have to take an elevator ride

I’m convinced that i play in the craziest / best LHE game in the US. The swings are crazy though. I was just thinking to myself that I’ve had no narrow wins or losses in recent sessions. I looked back at my last 8 sessions and the closest that I’ve come to even was +22BBs. Gotta be some kind of record...

That is all I got today.

Hf

Oh Ps I saw a guy at the urinal today in full pants around the ankles mode. I feel like if you are over the age of three this is unacceptable. That is all.

There is basically no reasonable discount that should convince someone on the fence to play. I expect my market to be only people that are planning to buy in with cash anyway.

The worst is when there's a giant puddle of pee and they drop their pants into the puddle.
06-26-2018 , 12:37 PM
Are you speaking from personal experience? I've unfortunately been sprayed on wearing flip flops at the urinals
06-26-2018 , 12:49 PM
If you are selling lammers, you are also competing against the satellite grinders. Because the demand for them is inelastic, there isn't much discounting, but there is some. 5% is typical (or it was back in the day when I spent my WSOP time satellite grinding).
06-26-2018 , 12:56 PM
I thought it was standard to pay face value?

No, that's the sweet revenge part.

I wish pope were right, but I've been trying for three days to sell these damn things, and I'm giving a fairly big discount.
