I think EoP is one of my all-time favorites. I've been reading Painless Poker for about half a year now. Lol. Started it before WSOP and took forever to get back into it... BUT... Tommy is convincing enough that I have been going to yoga classes regularly the last few weeks, if not quite fully immersing myself in "medding" yet. I'm intrigued. I have no doubt it will improve my mental and physical states.

Even the good playeres aren't that good with the rare exception of a few who might be there waiting for the 40 to start or are on the list for a mix game.

The 8/16 game is usually good but you are more likely to be stuck on a no action table were people are actually trying to play good than 20/40.
Yeah, I hear you but when I dropped down to 8-16 things w/ mom were simply too much. Doctor after doctor, get called home all the time. I snuck off to Desert Cat's Halloween party and got a call from the medics to come home w/i 20 minutes. And as I said I don't play for a living. If I did it'd be at the 20-40 0E, though. And now I'm comfortable at the 8-16 so I'm happy enough.

I agree that the game's good but I've played in LA, LV and AC and they're all the same, imo. That and there are some pretty good players. Might be you're much better but I think they're ok.

pig4bill is right, and I am leveling myself no matter what!

I'll just choose to accept it as non-sarcasm. That's the optimistic thing to do I'd say.

I almost went to play the 2-20 spread game (the only game running for 70 miles) with the intentions of treating it like a 10-20 regardless of how other people were playing, then I realized that would be sub-optimal because it allows other people huge value in hand-selection due to the blinds so on so forth. Then I remembered I'm in a degen-period and I end up on blackjack tables no matter what, so I stayed home.

Train of through: inconsistent.

I never said he was leveling you, just that you have to sniff out whether Howard is bluffing you on a deeper level or not.

I knew a guy that if he ever told you that you were a great guy, that was it. He basically never wanted to speak to you again.

I taught a friend badeucy last night. I put up three Marlboro's to his two Newports. However, the game took forever and we each took back our investments.

You absolutely have to do what makes you happy. Nothin wrong with playing 8/16,

I here that 20/40 OE is amazing.

There are some solid players in the 20 but I think they are just ok.I'm also commenting on a small sample size. I'm a solid player in the game but certainly not much better. I see a lot of missed value and bad bluff attempts.

Enjoy the 8/16 and I wish you and your mother the best.

I'd much rather live in AlwaysFolding's world than P4B's world.

Also, the idea that Howard would invite someone to dinner in a mean way is mind boggling. Howard seems like a super nice guy, and he's definitely on the list of people I'd look up if I ever make it to AZ. My assumption would be he's making the invitation to enjoy the pleasure of your company.

I've had to move down for a variety of reasons of course the biggest one being poor play. I'm having a blast being the best player at the table for 95% of the hours I've played at 8/16 which was true for maybe 2% of the hours I played at 20 over an incredibly larger sample size.

+1 That was the angle I ended up shooting in the end.

I wish I hadn't decimated my bankroll and could get in on the fun sooner, aside from the fun-shot three-handing 20/40 at CP the other week I can't really afford to take those risks.

Living vicariously through you guys!

3 handed, your variance is headed over 20BB/hr. As a short handed crusher, your WR goes way up. As a normal winner, swongs will be huge. Even a big winner is bored by losing 40BB. If you're shot taking, great things can happen. However, horrible ones as well. You just need to have your first $3k losing day. Then 4. Then 5. Then 10.

Luckily I was playing with two trained monkeys, had I been a little more properly equipped time-wise I could have made more than a rack.

Doug being dense as usual. I never said Howard was bluffing or leveling. I said the guy has to decide whether he was or not, given the previous action.

Truth.

And fwiw I'm still self-leveling even though I've made a decision. Life is a cruel game.

We should always seek to follow a non-self-leveling strategy, in life as well as in poker.
