I can't listen to talk radio for more than about two minutes before I either get annoyed or bored and start daydreaming. Music on the other hand gets my attention. Unfortunately I haven't been exposed to any good new music in a while.

Sports talk is the worst. I'd much rather watch Reservoir Dogs or Eight Below or even the sesame street number of the day video again on youtube, which I watched every day last week.

The problem is that now I think I permanently have "one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve" stuck in my head.

NPR is what every douchebag millennial 110-115 IQ type in Boston** listens to religiously in order to have hipster street cred.

**Spoken by what may be considered by some as a douchebag millennial from Boston

I agree with you, but maybe for different reasons. At one point in the early 2000s NPR was one of the only places for thoughtful analysis (like where someone might investigate a problem for more than 2 minutes before launching into an on-air tirade). But there are actually many places online now - fivethirtyeight, Vox, etc. - that do a good job of quantitative analysis.

Plus now that I commute longer and think more at work, I don't want to listen to serious stuff on my way to/from work. Just a bunch of mindless electropop and Kesha, please.

If we count my posts that the mods have deleted over the years, then I'm really closer to 9k than 8k.

I actually listen to a bunch of books on tape. I try to mix it up so it will go Murder on the Orient Express, some Stephen King garbage, to Kill a Mockingbird, etc.

I listen to podcasts.

I like to pretend that there's a 2+2er somewhere that keeps winning bets on whether or not I get banned.

Yesterday at my table one of the other players won a high hand bonus. I immediately started saying "We goin' Sizzler, we goin' Sizzler."

These are both true statements. There is no requirement to use all reds nor to use some greens. Some people just want to have all reds, 'cause it's lucky. And indirectly for most of them, it is lucky-the fewer hands/hr we play the smaller their loss rate.

When 50/100 runs it is always a 2 chip/4 chip game. Super irritating when somebody puts out 50 in red at that game, if you put out 25 in reds in one of the blinds you help keep the game moving faster since the dealer doesn't have to change a chip.

I once played 30/60 stud at Bellagio, and I got to the table to see it covered in green and red, seemed kinda stupid since they have $10 chips there. But there it seemed like everybody used both colors. And reds are needed for antes I think (can't recall if ante was 5 or 10, as I'm typing this out 10 seems more likely, in which case wtf red and green??)

The 30/60 Stud at Bellagio is $5 ante, so they do need at least a few $5 chips, but I don't know why they use $25. When the 30/60 Stud 8 or better was running for a few months, it used $10 chips.

CO open limps SB completes I knuckle the BB. Pot after rake is $4. Flop AT6r checked through, turn J checked through. River 4, CO bets $5 SB folds I raise to $15 and CO goes into the tank.

Then comes 20 questions.

"You got the ace?"

lol

"Did the river help you?"

lol

"Will you show if I fold?"

"I might not even show if you call." (shout out to B&M)

Finally he makes the $10 call and I flip my 72o, declaring, "I missed." He furrows his brow and I grab a sip of water while I'm waiting for the world's most pointless slowroll.

"Missed what?"

"Pair draw."

All the people who were drinking toasted me and we were having so much fun laughing I never even saw what he had.

Poker lotto alive and well in Colorado.

Made a trip up to Blackhawk 30 this past Saturday. Chips were flying around the table.

Memorable: capped 6 ways pf, capped 4 ways flop. (Q 10 x rainbow flop). Some more betting / cards. 3-ways at river.

Q5 off wins. Thankfully i was not in the hand.

Correctly mucked set of AAA to river straight & flush (after being called pf, flop, turn - 4 flush river and strght goes b/r/r/f...)

Left monies in the CO poker economy. Sigh.

Hats off to quantph for thriving in this environment.

Tables was mix of tight aggro players, and gambling fools. Wish i could spend some more time there. Spent most of my time at the crazy must move game. Main game was not nearly as good (at one point 5 cho0s in a row) though I ran slightly better there.

Quantph, Scotch next time!

Did you win any hands with K8s? And if so, did you slam it down triumphantly?

Spending the week in Ft. Smith for work. Guys I'm traveling with want to look for sushi for dinner. On a scale of 1 to 10, how bad is this idea? 1, not bad at all because western Arkansas is a foodie destination. To 10, you deserve to be poisoned for considering sea food, let alone sushi.

Jon Locke posted what I think is a great range-and-pot-odds hand in the mid-stakes forum. The denizens here might want to take a look at it too:

That type of thinking went out w/ the jet airplane and the refrigerated truck, imo. I live in a desert and there's seafood everywhere and it's just fine. And in my little backwater town a sushi place opened next to the Starbucks which I gave about 6 months to stay in business. 8 years later it's still there although I haven't tried it, mostly bec of the mommy.

Every time I just say screw it and donk the flop the ppl on here dump on me and that's what I would've done anyway. IMR, we call 2 in the BB and then check what is likely in our wheelhouse. Who are we fooling?

That's a super-good point.

Thanks. Not that it would've necessarily helped much bec he's up against at least one player that connected w/ the flop also. I assume he meant to c/r the flop. Once that Q falls then we have to consider ranges/odds. TBH, I think the ranges part are just plain bad for us and I'd probably fold to the turn bet.
