Hope you enjoy playing NL...you can show off those getting half the pot with 5 high skills.

A story I can tell for life! Do they still spread the 9-18 08?

I frequently think about this thread while performing depraved interactions with my avatar.

No one ever had 9/18 O8 as far as I know. Venetian used to have 8/16, but the players all went to Orleans.

Flop:

Q63. Since every raiser has AK I figure that I can bet and show them that I'm not a nit so I bet $25 but the other guy made it $50 and I called.

Turn: 10. c/c

River: Something. c/c

I picked up my cards and was ready to throw them in the muck and then thought 'I ought to show this so that they know I'm not a nit', smack the cards face up on the table and exclaim: 'BEAT THAT!' The other guy looks at my hand for a few seconds and then rolls over the 54.

There's a lesson in there somewhere, folks!
3! pre, obv.

Sounds like torture. Do they even have 4/8 any more? I'd rather check into the Orleans and never leave. You know they've fancied up all their restaurants and re-did the buffet, don't you?

Does ma get a scooter while in Vegas? They're designed to fold up and fit in the trunk of a car. You just reserve it and they bring it to your hotel (I'm guessing you won't be their first Orleans customer) and then just leave it in a designated spot when you leave.

This was the commercial shown during the baseball game tonight that freaked my wife out and a lot of people on twitter.

That commercial was crazy.

The Orleans upgrades that I've seen so far are very nice but they don't have shopping and I won't let mom sit in front of a slot all day. I tried to teach her to use a scooter at Target. After 5 minutes of carnage I gave up. She's a danger to everyone in the store.

I guess that, for $3/orbit I can OMC it for a few days.

Flop: A-2-2. I bet, get one caller, one of the women dealers.

Turn: A. I bet, she calls.

River: A. This is 99% the BBJ which is at $17.5K. I check bec I've heard horror stories about huge mistakes players make in this spot and don't want to see that happen for $8.

I show, she shows J-J, I get the small end for $4,375, YAY! I got lucky she decided that my flop bet was me getting funky but it all worked out.

Plus the dealer was super happy. I tipped $300 to the dealer, $100 to the floor but the woman had to tip way more than that and he knew it.
Congrats HB. I'm actually fine with your check if you're that worried she'll do something silly here and fold a BBJ unknowingly. Still ship the $4k

Howard, what heart meds are you on that mean you can't drink?

Just kidding, but seriously, every time you post about your mom it makes me warm and fuzzy. Such a good son.

You must not have seen the picture of her with a bag over her head.

That was an anonymask.

Heh, even when I used to go to the Venetian I made a beeline straight for the poker room. I didn't know they had shopping.

Slip a little brandy into ma's coffee so she goes to bed early then ubercab over to the Orleans for some Omahahaha. Maybe the BBJ will be big.

Damn, I was playing UTH in Orleans and a guy kept checking his phone and finally stood up. His mother, only 72, fell crossing a street somewhere around the place and suffered a shoulder separation , a broken bone in the shoulder and a torn rotator cuff

Thanks for that. I promised her that as long as I'm functional she won't have to move to assisted living.

I take Metformin for type 2 diabetes and the warning is that too much alcohol consumption can lead to a 50% fatal condition but they don't tell you how much is too much. Happily, I was never much of a drinker. Since I've lost so much weight my blood sugar numbers are way down and the doc has started talking about taking me off of the Metformin. Another 10 lbs ought to do it.

The ENTIRE second floor is a mall w/ upper end shops. Mom can stay up there all day if I were willing to push her around. They even have a canal where folks can take a gondola ride w/ a singing rower. And they put on a show in the faux St. Mark's square regularly. I've always wondered how much they pay those super talented people.

Good job. A lot of people are incapable of dealing with their diabetes but it sounds like you're doing the lifestyle-therapy route really well. Also the not drinking part.

I'm fairly certain I've shared this before but I was playing with a fairly large gentleman once at 4-8 and he was being deliberately inflammatory and drinking quite a bit. Eventually I popped a gasket and told him "Good luck with your pre-diabetes and obvious heart condition, at least I have my health and youth" and left the table.

My dad was at the table and apparently after I left the guy lamented that he is in fact diabetic and does have serious heart problems. I did not feel like a winner after that.

My quip is: 'If I ever feel like I'm not good looking, don't dress well, am way too fat (NOT ANYMORE!) and have no life all I have to do is go to the poker room and take a look around.'

All I had to do was go very low carb. Now I'm on a lectin avoidance diet and it's working great!

Self-esteem boosters: Trips to the casino, trips to Walmart, trips to McDonald's.

The first time I stayed at the Venetian I was unaware of the canal. Someone asked me where the gondola rides were, and I said I didn't know but there was some kind of moat around the place so I suggested they circle around the building. They said they thought it was indoors and since I had explored most of the first (casino) floor I said there was none inside.

It never even crossed my mind that there could be a canal on the second floor, that blew my mind.

Oh, I've seen the canal. I went upstairs when it first opened and probably saw the shopping, but since forgot because I never went up there again.

Yep, I know I'm way too fat but if I go to Vegas I'm downright skinny in comparison. For some weird reason really fat people go there a lot.

I tried that once but I didn't know what I was doing and ended up in the ER.

Think of how much all of that water weighs and what they had to do to support it!

Wait, there's a canal on the 2nd floor at the Venetian?
