I think that in limit holdem a tight image is best before the river and a loose image is best on the river. Let me explain. No that would take too long. Let me sum up:

When you hold a strong betting hand and you get action before the river, you are only winning a fraction of the pot due to the equity of your opponent's cards.

When you hold a strong betting hand and you get action on the river, you are winning the whole pot plus your opponents potential call.

There are some ins and outs of this theory, but that's the general concept imo.

I personally think not giving a hoot about your table image is +EV. Certainly better than making unscientific adjustments.
Seems pretty clear to me that ideally you want your image to be the opposite of how you actually play. But you adjust your play based on what your image is, not adjust your play based on what you want it to be.

E.g., you open otb 100% because BB is super tight. He notices this after a couple of hands and starts defending super wide and never folding. Then you re-adjust by tightening your opening range and bluffing less.

Image affects how you play, you don't adjust your play to affect your image. You certainly need to be aware of what your image is at all times.

In defense of lawdude, all the responses are based on the assumption that people don't really know how we play. And that's not a bad assumption for those of us that put in less than 100-500 hours/year in games popular enough to spread the player pool across many tables. But I assume that if I played 1,000+ hours of 40/80, people's images of me are going to converge on my actual play even if I take off my Faceless Man mask and reveal I'm really a hot woman.

Pro tip. If the menu specifies "chicken egg," the meal will be awesome.

What about the item next to it that only specifies "egg"?

I was always afraid to try chicken feet. Who knows where those feet have been.

Wait, if I bring an image of a table to construct my table image, what table image will the table imagine me as? The table image or my table image?

Dim sum places need to just stick with what everyone loves - soft buns stuffed with salty meat.

"'Well, I'm back,' he said."

Quit playing pro because I stopped winning. Quit poker because playing for fun seemed too much like "work." Time passes.

I get reminded that I have a bit of money on Black Chip (WPN), and decide to play. Turns out that micro-stakes 6max LHE games go regularly, and also eight-or-better stud, the game of my heart. (No badugi or triple-draw, though.)

I am getting my poker brain back.

I was discussing eulogy construction with my friend the other day. I don't remember much of the conversation, but I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to drop the microphone at the end of his eulogy.

It was three for a while, but now it is back to two.

(Brag: Temporary #3 is a sometime porn star. I tried, but I couldn't put this into BBV form.)
09-02-2017 , 07:40 PM
The notion that you had three- even if one was a temp porn star- is BBV all by itself and no further explanation is required. Trust you'll join me and the rest of the local gang if I can get my sorry ass back out there soon?
09-02-2017 , 08:15 PM
AB, I don't know you, but BBV would love a good story.

Speaking for a friend (god plz BBV needs it)
09-02-2017 , 08:27 PM
Of course, the whole process of going from two to three and back to two again is the definition of variance.

Pics.

"Sometime porn star" is an oxymoron, like "sorta pregnant".

Kind of like "former poker pro," I guess.
