DD = DeathDonkey?

I experienced a rather funny Chris Vitch moment. Picked off his river bluff in O8 (can't remember if it was the O8 or HORSE event) and dealer is looking at his hand forever trying to figure out how it wins and finally Chris just picks up his cards and mucks them while saying "well don't embarrass me!"

Yes, DeathDonkey and that's a cute story. I'd also like to mention that that tourney, at a $10K BI, has to have one of the toughest fields in the entire series bec it's hard to imagine that somebody w/o a clue would plunk down that cash to play against seasoned Stud8 players.

GG, Chris.

Hustler 25.

3 players with reasonable ranges go raise-3-bet-cap pre-flop. A fish with a VPIP over 85
and who has been losing and is short-stacked calls the 4 to the face in the small blind. 4 players see the flop.

Flop Td8d4d

Checks around.

Turn 5d

Checks to initial 4-bettor, who bets.

Fish in SB tanks for 4 minutes, and then finally check-raises, leaving himself only $40 left in his stack..

Everyone folds.

Fish shows 6s2c

Fish sold the timing/hollywood tell bluff. nh.

In other news, I might make a trip to Bay this weekend. Maybe Saturday night or Sunday night.

That is awesome. Anytime I tank for too long and bluff I never get folds.

I just realized that a T-shirt is basically a pillowcase with some holes cut out for your arms and neck.

This is what I wear everyday?

Funny story. I spilled the water next to my bed the other night and got the pillowcase wet and being lazy and not wanting to go find a replacement, I put the pillow inside of a red t-shirt that was out on a chair near the bed. Looked silly when I woke up.

To be fair it was a full-kill pot. I was coming back from a break and saw the pot otr. Holy Mother of God! Chips everywhere! One player called the river bet w/ middle pair bec, oh, well, he was the only one left besides the guy causing the carnage and he only had to be right 1 in 10,000 times or something which this clearly wasn't one of them.

Ha I remember the hand but not you or which event it was either. In tournaments I usually just turn my cards over regardless of what I have but the dealers def get confused. Good call

Must have been July second or third 1997 when I first saw Independence Day on the big screen. 20 years later and it's the only time I've ever seen a movie get a standing ovation.

Funny how 20 years later, we're still waging a war against aliens.

When it was released, I went to the theater nearest me because it was the only one I was familiar with. The parking lot was not huge so I thought I would outsmart everyone and go to the Saturday matinee. No parking spaces. None on the following Sunday either. It was four weeks before I could get a parking space.

BTW I saw Star Wars in the first week limited release. Standing O there too.

This sounds like the story you'd tell if your roommate caught you cuddling a pillow dressed as a man

If you're pope's age and living with a roommate it seems like you'd be telling the story to your parents, not your roommate.

Yeah, so do I. I could have sped up the process but I tend not to say what I have when I turn my hand over in O8. People are always in dealer's ears in O8 and I get the vibe the majority of dealers want to figure it out themselves... even when people tell them what the hands are, they still have to process it on their own. So I just shut up.

Re: 2017 ustakes NC, where the steaks are wafer thin (Low Content Thread)

Here's a hand from a recent 20/40 session:

I'm having one of those sessions where the whole table is grumbling about how good I'm running. I have 6 of my 8 opponents on visible and audible tilt. One of the biggest steamers opens from the HJ and I 3-bet Q9hh on the button. He calls and we are heads up.

Flop is 975, two spades; he check-calls. Turn is Ks; we both check. River is an 8; he checks...

So the reason I'm posting this is: to bet or not to bet? On the surface, it seems like an obvious check back. The problem is I think there is real value to be had here. My opponent is on megatilt and I have his range as super wide (we have seen a 92s open). Based on how the hand has played out, I think I can safely rule out straights, flushes, sets, big pairs, and better 9s. From a range perspective, I really only expect to see a passively played Kx if I'm losing. But we also have a strong live read that he is weak on the river. But can he call often enough to make betting profitable? I really do think so. If we know we are basically never losing, it doesn't really matter how often he calls, right? Plus I feel he's going to pay it off more often than normal (like, with ace high sometimes) and I think it's worth it to fire this bet in there to steam him up even more. Plus the rest of the table will see it if he calls and I think that's worth something for my table image. Thoughts?

Betting is clearly right but more importantly the check on the turn is really bad. He will turn all sorts of draws that you still beat and that will call you and that you don't want to give a free card to. Even if he hits the king he may not checkraise since he perceives the board as scary and your range as strong. Also you are gonna want to double barrel that turn card (and fire the last barrel on a lot of bricks), think of all the gutshot straight flush combos you will have.

3 betting Q9s in this spot pre can be totally fine but not if you don't know how to get value from the marginal hands you are gonna make. You should bet all 3 streets. Sometimes he will have better but that's fine.
