Got back from another awesome Vegas trip with the usual suspects (Jesse, DougL, HammerinHank), but were missing leo doc due to his back surgery. It's interesting how each trip takes on a bit of a different personality. And always some weird/funny/stupid **** happens.

Got to see/eat/meet up with several 2+2ers, rodeo, BrokerOnTilt, Breich and bdaddy. Totally ****ed up dinner with gobbo boy, my bad . I feel really bad about that. Got stuck at the Las Vegas Zoo checking out the green rhinos for way too long. Not a good excuse.

Learned how to play Stud8 halfway decent and get in some O8 practice, was tons of fun.

The Babar house should be in full effect now, have fun guys! Suffering from Vegas withdrawals now, back to work tomorrow.

confirmed in effect! vegas! hope the rhinos didn't trample you too badly

8/16 in SoCal is always great. HG, I think, has(had) the most running at any given time.

20/40 usually has one main game with a must move.. sometimes. It's filled with snug props.

Disclaimer: I've only been there once since they moved to the building on a Saturday, so I'm not sure how the games have changed during the weekdays.

Good to know. I'll probably stick with the 8/16 then. I imagine the game may be even more prop filled with everyone in Vegas.

Ha - hard to believe but I'll take your word for it. Probably too far for me to drive during rush hour.

Here are a couple gems from the CP 8/16 this week.

Four limpers including "John", who is the closest thing to Howard's description to a player that never, ever wins that I have ever seen. I raise AA otb and then blinds call. Flop 852r, John on my immediate right donks. I raise, a couple callers. Turn offsuit K, I bet and person + John calls. River 8, checks to me and I almost grit my teeth and bet but I don't. John announces "I have a full house" and rolls the 82o.

Hand number 2 I post the SB otb. Decent player raises UTG, three cold callers including John and a woman who has become a legendary donator in a really short time. Come to think of it, she never wins either. I call 44 and the blinds call (of course). Flop A84ss. UTG bets, everyone calls, I raise, blinds from fold. Turn is 7d and there is some confusion as she checks and then decides she wants to bet after I bet. Dealer clears up her options and she now just calls. Four to the river I think. River Th and she is the only one who check calls. She announces "I have a straight" (apparently that is the new thing) and I am convinced that she is misreading her hand. Nope, she had the 56o.

I dropped 4 racks that day but was up something like 15 for the week. Good times.

I think I'm probably playing the wrong game if this is how the 8/16 really is.

He must have been joking about the zoo. I had never even heard of one here so googled it. There used to be a small one, but it closed a few years ago.
06-12-2017 , 02:01 PM
Yeah, zoo w/ green rhinos is supposedly a reference to spearmint rhino.
06-12-2017 , 02:12 PM
I'll have you know that the Captain and I had a rather large time when we last interacted with those green rhinos. Well, I know I did with one of the Russian subspecies of green rhinos.

I took my father to a nude bar one time when mom was out of town. I had to drive home and when he woke up the next day w/ an empty pocket he asked 'what happened?' lololol...........There was one girl he wouldn't let go of. She got all the $$$$$.

Anyone have any idea on this issue?

I did not make that post, but I've had similar issues for a few years now. This Saturday was the worst episode yet.

Common triggers:
Protein + rice, for some reason beef triggers it more than chicken or pork, but it's happened with those.

When I eat, I seem to get an air pocket stuck in my esophagus, and USUALLY, I can just shove this air pocket down with a big gulp of water. Sometimes when the water doesn't work, it causes a gag/vomit reflex in my body, and there's a burning sensation in my chest.

Saturday I was not able to shove the air pocket down like normal, but eventually I gagged/vomited enough to make the air pocket go away. I'm setting up a dr appointment to get this fixed, but it seems like no one has been able to give anything to comfort my concern other than knowing I'm not the only one with this issue.

I have serious doubts about this being an "air pocket." It sounds like you are getting an intermittent esophageal food bolus that's getting "stuck" before making its way into your stomach. Beef is the most common culprit.

About five or six years ago, I had the same problem, mostly with beef, but occasionally chicken. Finally, got a piece of stellar prime rib eye stuck that wouldn't go down or come up. Called one of my surgeon pals who took me to the GI lab about 10:30 at night, removed it with a scope, then dilated my esophagus. No problems since then, altho I will tell you I chew my food a bit longer.

Eta: When I say I have "serious doubts" about this being an air pocket, you should take that to mean you don't have an air pocket. You are experiencing an esophageal meat impaction. And incidentally, your EGD (scope) may well be normal. I'd explain to the doc that this is happening more frequently and ask him about doing the dilatation..

Lmao I was going to Google "green rhino" later because I had never heard of them. I just went to the San Diego Zoo and I thought it weird that Las Vegas had an animal that San Diego didn't.

I'm a little disappointed you didn't take him to an Asian massage parlor. He likely would have left happier and still had some cash left over.

Speaking entirely hypothetically, outside of major urban areas, are there still Asian MPs or non-Asian MPs or just no MPs?

Thanks for the pointers, Doc!

I'll update everyone as I get checked out... shortly after I have TR for Lower Antelope Canyon.

First time I had been at the zoo while the NBA finals was going on. Jesse and I were sitting down, and I looked over and was like, "hey wait, the game has started..."

It was like being at a sports bar watching the game, but better. Everybody just stopped whatever they were doing and watched the last quarter.

This question is best answered by the resident 2p2 Asian MP expert.

I don't know if it is similar, but I have that happen when I am hungover and eat food too quickly without drinking enough water. Happened 4-5 times where I actually started to panic worried I was choking and drinking water wouldn't help get it down either.

Is that where the green rhinos run free and graze on fun tickets?

It's the same thing, pope. You only need to panic if you can't speak during an episode. Because that would mean the food went down your trachea and if somebody doesn't do a Heimlich maneuver, you won't be posting on 2p2 any more.

I thought that taking him to a nude bar was a stretch to begin with. Turned out he had a great time although w/ a weak memory bec he'd never been much of a drinker.

There's one in my sort of little town and I'm surprised it hasn't been busted yet. I wouldn't think of going in there. The one on the way to the poker room, though,........

Current status - waiting to be seated.

Btw how is it that I end up in CA when all of the cool kids are in Vegas?
