I forgot to divide by two because the two broadway cards can come in either order.

Hah well I didn't notice; not like the conclusion changes at all. No brainer shove, we can just become ICM nits if we get quartered.

If that hand was in a satellite I missed that part.

I think around 18-20 bigs is when you can start opening for 2.2-2.5x and play some flops and fold to raises - although you shouldn't really be opening hands you can't stack off with. What you are really looking to do is jam over an open with this stack size.

Also, NLO8 might have different stack size strategies. Maybe it's just fine to make a standard open with 15 bigs in that game. You are getting a piece of the pot back often enough that playing flops might be reasonable.

Also, lack of antes could make a difference.

I think the answer to this question is somewhere in the relative equity distributions comparing:

(average equity distribution in all in situations) for game x.

and

(average equity distribution in all in situations) for game y.

----

Think about the extremes:

static game with few draws like 2-7 no limit single draw, which will favor the player doing the shoving to the point that the respective opening preflop raise % will be relatively high.

or

dynamic game with lots of draws like big O8 wheeee, which will make shoving more dangerous.

I go to table my hand and one card catches in the felt, flips over, I deflect it trying to catch it and it lands in my lap. I then table it, is my hand dead?
12-10-2017 , 02:07 PM
I would vote no.
12-10-2017 , 04:24 PM
It depends on the floor person. But I think it technically could be called a dead hand.
12-10-2017 , 04:50 PM
It would be ludicrous to kill that hand
12-10-2017 , 04:58 PM
Agreed.
12-10-2017 , 06:34 PM
Of course the hand shouldn't be killed but it gets killed anyway an awful lot.

The probability of it being killed goes up with the amount of lobbying (by your opponents) to kill it.

tbh

Dealer stopped, I actually thought I was screwed (she said she had to call floor and I said absolutely, I understand), but the pot was small and the other guy saw I had the best hand and let it go. So she pushed it to me and we played on. Not sure how floor would have ruled. I'll ask next time I'm in the room.

Several years ago, I turned quads and wound up heads-up with the player on my left, who was all-in. When the river came down, I showed him my hand (without tabling it) which he proceeded to break and throw on the floor before stalking out of the cardroom. Any idea what the ruling would have been if there had been a third player in at showdown?

Every cardroom is different, but presuming your ripped up cards were still retrievable from the floor, I'm sure they would have awarded the pot to you if you had the winning hand.

If there were a complaint from the third person or the cards were not retrievable, I would ask to open up the stub to show that the cards you claimed you had were not in the deck.

^Thinking man here.

I once pulled my winning hand out of the Muck - like it was touching the other dead cards - at showdown and the floor ruled it a live hand...

...@ Bellagio.

Yeah even in the last 5 days BTC and LTC have done ok. I like the names of some like PotCoin - idk why it keeps going down. It should just keep going higher and higher and higher I would think.

I don't see myself having the time, but if I do, I'll buy some PotCoin, fire up a joint, and watch this movie

No posts itt in five days? Wassup with that? I'll break the silence with an "It's all about me post."

So Jesse and I are doing our usual bi-weekly catch up texting. He's apparently out with two ladies last night and including them in our banter. My hip fracture progress comes up and I tell him it's kinda stalled because I've lost almost an inch of length in my left leg after the surgery. As you might imagine, this renders my unassisted ambulation very awkward (at best) and it looks like I'll be relegated to using a single crutch or cane for the foreseeable future. (Read that- til death do us part.)

So, I ask him to poll his lady friends: Would you prefer to be with a guy that relies on a crutch or a cane? The vote was split.

So my question to SSLHE: If you had to use one or the other when you're in polite society, which would you use?

[ ] Crutch because you might get more sympathy points; or

[ ] cane because House set the standard for a "doc with a disability."

Minor brag: I got one of those 'Handicap' thingies to put on the vehicle's mirror so parking is decidedly more convenient now.
