Oh yeah, there's that new Shell in Wikieup with the $3.75 gas. All the other places are vile. In my youth and when I had my 300zx (Nissan theme here!) that had a big tank and got 30 mpg I could do a straight shot from Kingman (400 miles) without stopping. Those were the good old days.

When I was 40 I had a Z-car and was always in danger of getting speeding tickets. Now I'm 67 w/ a 102hp Versa and drive in the right lane. jfc.

I also drive a Nissan, it is shaped like a marshmallow toaster. I assume you can guess which model it is.

5 years ago I had an M3. Damn, I miss that car sometimes.

If you want to stop taking it, slowly cut back over a few weeks. It will suck when you cut it out, but shouldn't last more than a few days. After a while, I don't notice much difference between daily coffee and not drinking any at all.

If you want to stay on, try to get more sleep at night. Easier said than done, of course.

Depends on if you're up or down.

Thanks for the serious response. I used to stay up for days on end and now I can't make it to 9pm without drinking evening coffee. Hey at least it's not crack.

Do you take other medications? Make sure your caffeine doesn't affect your meds, especially if your doctor has been tinkering with doses.

Caffeine is a drug and can cause drug-drug interactions.

I once raced my Z against an M. The M was MUCH faster out of the gate but once we got to 90 or so it was funner.

Thanks for the heads up. My drs are aware of my caffeine addiction but all they say is "try to cut back." The meds I take only say to avoid alcohol while taking them but nothing about caffeine. If there was a problem then surely I'd have died by now given all the coffee that I drink, so I think I'm in the clear.

I drive an i3 now.

Bob, just cut back a bit. Caffeine is not a terrible drug.

Maybe the other guy didn't have your balls. Did you have a turbo? My 300zx was a single cam and had a lot of torque but really ran out of steam at 90-95. I doubt it would go much over 100. Maybe someone monkeyed with the tuning before I got it. My M3 was sort of an old POS when I got it so I was afraid to drive it real fast, but it charged up past 90 like it was just getting started. They came with a 155 mph speed limiter and I don't have any doubts it would do that if you could manage to keep it on the road.

I forget which model I had. It didn't have much pull from a stop but it never stopped accelerating. I think I had it up to 120 on the Garden State Parkway (the car was fine but Id've ended up in jail) and it was still willing to go much faster.

Yeah, new cars are amazing. I have an ordinary grocery getter Ford Focus that's almost as quick 0-60 as the published specs on my old 300zx (although I think the tuning was changed to make mine quicker in trade for less top end), does 121 on the top end, and gets 40 mpg on the highway.

That sure sounds like a turbo. I drove a couple of them. They had bad acceleration specs because they left the line kind of slow, then whoosh.

I drove my girlfriend's Continental GT at 150 on 35W south but it wasn't my car

I'm out of the house an average of 13 hours a day. Caffeine addiction is like mandatory for me.

One summer I worked with a woman who was trying to quit caffeine. It was not pretty.

Boston summah, wicked sweaty. Every day we'd get off the T and there was Dunkin Donuts with a big Coffee Coolatta (or whatever that frozen coffee drink is called) sign in the window. And goddammit I wanted one so bad but she was super irritable already and I think the first day I suggested she wait outside while I got one and she nearly ripped my head off.

Lots of Z's in this thread. I had a 260Z, and IIRC leo doc had a 300 T-top at some point.

For no particular reason, I quit coffee about 6 weeks ago. Was only a morning drinker but often had about 4 cups between 5-7 before going to work. I subbed a Coke for the coffee and had no problems. For all day drinkers, some folks say stop drinking an hour earlier that you normally would for a week, then an hour earlier the next week, etc. Just taper gradually and you'll avoid the caffeine DTs.

ps hi Leo glgl with the recovery.
Thank you, Bob. I appreciate the well-wishes. The PT folks tell me I'm way ahead of schedule in recovery milestones. I won't feel that way until I'm able to walk "on my own two feet."

Along the "silver lining" theme, I'm pleased to report that I no longer smoke. Really had no desire while hospitalized- perhaps the narcotics blunted the urge- and no desire now. Will admit I got one of those vapor things and take an occasional hit.

Close. I had one of 500 true convertibles brought into this country. It was a 1990 iirc.

Thanks Leo. I don’t know about quitting the morning coffee routine. I’m just hoping to eliminate the evening pot that I’ve become addicted to.

Every damn time Omaha comes up there is always someone who says 'Omahahaha' or 'Yamaha.' Just stop it please.
