Do you have so many -65 bet hours that this is a serious consideration?

Edit: Does your casino not have chip runners that you can call to buy chips for you when you're starting to run low?

I have huge variance for some reason and I don't know why.

But my standard buy in is 50 bets. I usually start trying to re-add when below 25 bets.

if you play you don't have free time

It's pretty standard to buy in large at Canterbury. I was once at a 6 handed 20/40 table with north of 20k in reds in front of people. My standard is 4 racks. Stack 50 chips a row and it's no problem.

Not if I have to miss a hand, but if I don't have to miss a hand I absolutely want to be very publicly and vocally buying chips.

As a matter of fact, I would love it if everyone noticed and remembered every time I ran out of chips and never noticed or remembered whenever I walked off a huge winner.

Oh man you guys are doing it wrong.

1. It is 8/16 with a half kill, $2 chips and the game is generally a gong show. You can swing 2-3 racks in that game without blinking.

2. Having to rebuy blows.

3. Having a massive castle of chips is like the best thing ever.

4. I've never heard anyone complain, at least at Canterbury. People complain at CAZ (Howard can attest) but forget them.

5. I love the fact that people think I "always win". Makes them play suboptimally against me.

6. Did I mention that having a massive pile of chips is awesome.

I'm pretty sure I have never seen anyone make an initial buyin for 5 racks in any game, ever.

Sounds like someone is overcompensating.

Standard buy-in at 8/16, 20/40, 40/80 at cbury is 3 racks, and very few people ever color up.

Just older guys that can't manage a castle, and awful players who do it on order to set a stoploss.

Also selling chips is pointless because cash doesn't play.

There are a few players at Talking Stick who buy in for 5 racks if I count the 8-16 OE as well and nobody minds it. I buy in for 3 racks and add on if I dump 1 right away which happens often enough.

Different rack colors? Seems a wide spread to be having the same BI

I'm a noob. Thanks for pointing that out so elegantly

That's just classic pope, pay no attention.

How does this work? If you're a winner and they think you're a winner, then they make fewer FTOP mistakes than if you're a winner and they think you're a loser.

Well for one there are a lot of guys that get super munsy against me, don't bet strong hands and let me draw cheaply. Like the free card play still works for me kind of thing.

3 yellow racks ($600), 3 red racks ($1500), 3 brown racks ($3000)

If you play in a room where chip denomination only roughly follow game size, the X rack thing can appear odd. If the room has correct chips to make every game a 2 chip 4 chip game, everyone will use things like racks as shorthand.

It is funny that the two schools of thought on game image have no empathy with each other. The guys who like to have lucky gambler image love the incorrect image of being stuck/gambly. The more standard TAG players want a solid image and never appear to be losing. As long as you know how your game matches the image you want, either way is probably fine.

Not too long ago someone mentioned that I had a lot of chips and must've been doing well. Another player said 'he always buys in for a lot of chips, I never pay attention to how many he has.' I might go to a 4 rack buy in.
08-27-2017 , 10:02 PM
buy more chips, guys. buy 'em all like an ******* then have the cage tell the next guy (jesse) that he can't buy $300 to play $4/$8 mix. Definitely do that....and also call all bets blind in O8 when Jesse and Brett have you basically drawing dead to both hands both ways.

I haven't seen him in a while, but there's a guy at AJs who I swear must buy in to the 6-12 for a minimum of 5 racks, but probably more. I've seen him at a table 3 or 4 times and he's always had 6 or 7 racks in front of him and I've played with him a couple of times and his play is unremarkable in every way (meaning, I can't see him having won a mountain of chips through either crazy gamb00l or being an absolute crusher).

I'm going to be in the cities next weekend and considering taking a fun-run at 40/80 at Cbury. $1500 max, so HF if you see a late 20s kid dumping during any round of Hold'em next weekend you'll know who I am.
08-28-2017 , 01:54 AM
1500 is like 3 hands of Big O. Or one hand of stud.
Why not dump to the 20 game instead?
08-28-2017 , 08:18 AM
You are not wrong, JJJ!

I just don't really like playing hold'em anymore

For sure. I don't play much during the weekend but lmk if you make it and I'll buy you a Pepsi or something.

Also it has been 50/100 lately (with green chips, lol) so be prepared.
