Weird session today but was reflecting on it during the drive home. Game was amazing. Managed to be up 2 racks in like 30 mins. Then a series of brutal suckouts and I was down like half a rack. Didn't bother me at all. Apparently I am impervious to that and actually loved the fact that it was a great game.

Then I observed two blatantly bad OPTAH violations that affected game action. One on the river in a huge three way pot and one on the turn in a huge 4 way pot. Now that pissed me off. Usually good dealer wouldn't do anything so I had to involve the floor.

So yeah, liking my mental game right now.

My game today was the most exhausting session that I've played in years: 5+ hrs of laughing, joking, story-telling, good natured needling non-stop. And the action was off the rails: Take your A-A and throw it into the garbage can bec Q-10ss was the hand to play. Enormous swings and it took me until the last half hour to end up a small winner plus $300 on a promo.

TV poker is missing out. Someone ought to send camera crews around to various card rooms and find a game like I played in today. That'd boost ratings, imo.

Also: A complete stranger sat down and bought two racks. W/I 5 minutes he quietly sent for two more and I think that's something of a tell. He knew enough to know he was going to have to gamble and was prepared to do it. OTOH, I'm probably the only player who noticed/thought about it.
04-26-2017 , 11:16 AM
So you're saying he knew more than the rest?
04-26-2017 , 11:37 AM
Certainly. He sat down and obv started checking the players/game condition and came to the proper conclusion immediately which makes him above average, imo.

I do not disagree. I like this move a lot myself, the willingness to get invested in a spewfest takes heart.
04-26-2017 , 03:07 PM
That it's a tell only picked up by the best players is a negative in my book.
04-26-2017 , 05:26 PM
heh. I was impressed that he did it but wasn't at the table long enough after he sat in to judge his play but noticing at once that two racks wasn't enough has to say something.

I have no goddamn idea wth is going on in here.

I open up a forum and see three separate LC/NC threads. I mean, I know there is a paucity of content these days, but still, three seems like overkill.

But I remember some uLimit peoples in here notwithstanding the fact I'm an unlimited donk rather than the limited variety. Hi Doc and DougL and Bellatrx and Babar. But where is Bona?

Where you U.S. LHE guys play these days? Ignition? ACR? BoL? Let us start up a small .05/.10 LHE table somewhere for funs like in old days.

Wait until the NL forums get combined.

That's the thing about (poker) tv - there needs to be more tension (comedic, dramatic, romantic, violent, sexual, confrontational). What you're describing is a game that would show how fun and entertaining poker can be, thus the message is, "look how much fun we are having gambling in a setting where everybody w a chip and a chair is welcome, maybe you should try this". But poker audiences want to either see the best playing for high stakes tourney or cash game, or they want to see hashtagkid insult kinda famous players' wives. Poker content (like all television?) puts their business interests above the well-being of the subject they are covering. It is nice when those interests are aligned though

Quantph wins the name, as picked by a highly biased fan of his blog (he plays at the casino I sometimes visit). Fixed the spelling of steaks.
