Yuck.

Some moderately older guy coughed directly into his cards the other day. While holding them. In front of his face.

Yuck.

Minor medical nit pick: poison oak (a type of contact dermatitis) is vesicular, not "flaky."

As a practical matter, transmission of a skin disorder would be very unlikely simply by handling touched cards. Just don't offer to help them scratch their itch.

I wonder if poker players (adjusted for age related variables) are the healthiest group around bec we get exposed to everything. Every session is like getting a booster shot.

I think the stress of losing to a full house on the river cancels out any health benefits gained by exposure to pathogenic microbes

If you wanna get exposed to everything, work in an ER.

Was headed to Talking Stick last Thurs for mom's Wheel of Fortune adventure but when she told me that she'd had chest pains the night before we went to the ER instead. The waiting area was packed. And I survived it! All thanks to my twice weekly boosters shots I'm sure.

Scrape the dirt off the chips and eat it, you'll live to 140.

I'm not going to go that far but, tbh, for enough money - say $100 - I'd pop one into my mouth for sure. Nothing will happen and I have a scientific based reason for claiming so: I've had many dogs over the years and they've eaten everything that's dropped to the floor/sidewalk all w/o the least observable ill effect. Plus we handle the chips and rub our eyes and the like and I see the same ppl showing up for years. All of this germ stuff is overblown unless you get unlucky.

In SoCal the higher chip denominations are bigger in size. I think you'd be more at an advantage to put $1-$25 chip in your mouth vs the $100+.

Give me a $5K chip and I will swallow it and take my chances on what happens a day or two later!

It'd be a bummer if I digested it.
03-22-2017 , 10:26 PM
yeah, if they made 5k chips environmentally degradable/digestible that would honestly be a top .1% beat OAT

A $5K chip would really be helpful bec it's going to take a long while getting that $$$ playing 15 hours/wk earning $14/hr.

Which, btw, brings up an interesting question a particular player has got me wondering: If earning ~$14/hr at 8-16 is about what can be expected (give or take) what's the motivation of a decent player whose drinks cost more than $14/hr? He'd be better off moving to LV.

If you are talking about the guy with long curly hair...he used to play 20/40 nonstop. Take that for what its worth.

I would think 20/hr is doable at 8/16 Talking Stick. Are the games tougher these day's? I haven't played there in about 5 years.

I am 100% sure $30+ an hour is doable. But my sample is usually nights and weekends, so that might cut down the total hours available.

It's hard to give an answer, $20 an hour is certainly doable in the 8/16; however the people that can do it will all be playing 20-40+ where games is nearly as good, often better and rake is way less, only real downside is way more variance at 20-40 and often 8-16 is better during things like hi hand promos etc....

If pope had to play 8-16 40 hours a week if guess closer to 20 than 30, if he could cherry pick games and promos then he could possibly win 30 (assuming sobriety of course).

There are enough people that play it fairly reasonable and the rake is big enough that you just can't crush it that badly
03-23-2017 , 01:47 AM
So you think I can win at poker?
03-23-2017 , 01:52 AM
Some games yes, some games no
03-23-2017 , 01:57 AM
I would like your detailed analysis so I could play better. I'll buy your next drink/coffee/hot chocolate/5 teas.
03-23-2017 , 02:08 AM
If you play with people you are better than you will win (basically everyone except 1-2 people st 8-16), if you play with a few people better (not to many at 20-40 even) then you you will prob break even. If you are drinking you have no shot.
