2017! NC/LC THREAD -- Small Stakes, 40 years to Mars 2017! NC/LC THREAD -- Small Stakes, 40 years to Mars

I've never actually done it but I've played in some reg-infested games where I'm pretty sure the edge to be gained by shortstacking would probably make you the most profitable player in the game. This assumes that you understand the adjustments that need to be made in all positions and that your opponents will not- which they won't, because nobody has actually worked out how much earlier you can play ace rag and whatnot.

Everyone would also assume you're a huge fish.

Ideally, as others have said, you want want a smaller stack the closer you are to the left of the button, and would like to reload when you get the button. But I think you could make it work from anywhere and you would have an inherent mathematical edge over decent players but would give up a lot against fish.

So if a state passed a law saying murder was no longer illegal, the federal government couldn't get involved and pass a national law saying murder is illegal everywhere?

That's a great point rob. Yes that's fine

Brag of the day: Female dealer pushes in and says to me 'Hi, skinny!' The low carb diet has done away w/ 35 lbs but I've got at least another 30 to be skinny which is never going to happen.

Beat of the day: Game's great, 6-7-8 players pre raise or no. I limp MP along w/ the players in front of me w/ the K10. Flop: QJ10. The expert way to lose this hand is to make the flush.

It's official: The earth is flat, at least according to Kyrie Irving.

When Adam Silver (the NBA commissioner) was asked about Kyrie's opinion, he remarked, "Kyrie and I went to the same college, but I think we must have taken different classes."

To be fair, there aren't many college courses I can think of where it may come up as an actual issue.

Since the dude has flown high enough in an airplane to personally see the earth curve, how would a class be able to do more.

Especially at Duke.

If I were King of the World I'd hand the guy a sheet of rubber and tell him to make free throws w/ it.

Sitting at urgent care with kid post bike crash. She keeps asking same questions and says she's scared. Not the greatest end to the ride.
02-19-2017 , 06:15 PM
Best wishes Doug. Take care of her.

Jesus . Best wishes to your daughter, Doug.

Thanks, guys. We are in the back waiting on doctor. A bit scared, tbh
02-19-2017 , 07:35 PM
Talked to doctor. Physical exam was great, so no additional injury. She has on and off lack of short term memory, he asked her to remember 3 things and she could hardly remember that he'd asked her to do so. Sounds like we're here for a while longer and then home to keep an eye on her. Guess that's the best news based on how out of it she was when we walked in

DougL, hoping all is well with your daughter! I've recently known 2 kids that have suffered head injuries and recovery has been slow and stressful for their parents, I hope that her recovery is fast
02-19-2017 , 10:08 PM
Hoping for the best, Doug.
02-19-2017 , 10:12 PM
Thanks. She's home and resting. She now remembers the crash and what she did this morning.

Good that she's fine now, there is nothing worse than seeing a look of terror in your kid's eyes and not being able to fix it right away.
02-20-2017 , 08:39 AM
Doug-

Glad to hear she's doing well. I'll call when I finish with some early morning appointments.

Yeah, if she has a concussion, that doesn't mean she is better/fine yet.

That sucks Doug, good luck. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a stuntman. I was one of the lucky ones that never got really hurt. I heard a fun saying the other day: "we don't get wiser as we get older, we just run out of stupid **** to do."

-----

Good morning Leo, cheers.

I'm proud to report that a dog, a cat, and I survived a weekend in the city together. I'm a suburban farmer country boy type and I'm quite out of place here to be honest. Yet, life goes on.

I don't think I've won an all in with QQ in the past week playing tourneys: QQ<77, QQ<44, QQ<JTo, etc.

I'm not specifically referring to Doug's daughter since I don't know anything more than what he's posted; but, generally speaking, head injuries that don't cause a loss of consciousness, vomiting, visible trauma, or any focal abnormality on the neurological exam (e.g., abnormal eye movements or pupillary response, a demonstrated motor or sensory deficit, ataxia or an abnormal gait, etc.) do quite well. Obviously, repeated head injuries, even without demonstrable neurologic abnormalities after any single injury, can have a cumulative effect on the brain. (Think CTE and early onset dementia, as examples.)

Non-severe headaches and/or transient amnesia are very common following even relatively mild closed head injuries and, as such, are not cause for undue concern. Unless, of course, it happens to your child in which case it'll worry the hell out of you.

And good morning Bob, my early morning friend.

She's sore but happy this AM. Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts. I was in that pergatory of being safely at the hospital but knowing that it would be an hour until we saw anyone yesterday afternoon. Was sitting there putting on a brave face for my wife while freaking out about the "what's happening, I'm scared" questions.

I'll look forward to hearing the wisdom of leo doc. Was thinking at the time that I was seeing 1 millionth of his experience from a couple years ago.

Oddly, the ER doc we had who was so amazing reminded me of surf doc. He was a skier/biker instead of a surfer.
