Can confirm that no one in this thread actually knows what a donk of death is.

Will be in Wyoming, hopefully near the Grand Tetons for totality. I've been looking forward to this for a long time.

I thought the donk of death had to occur on the river?

If you've never experienced a total solar eclipse, it's an incredible experience, I highly recommend it. I was in England for one around 1999 or thereabouts, didn't really know what to expect, but afterwards I understood why some people spend all of their vacations chasing total eclipses.
Any casinos in western Nebraska?

Lol, there's nothing in western Nebraska, hence the dark skies. But you're only a few hours from Black Hawk, and I've heard there's juicy Wyoming bar poker, not sure if a firearm is required there these days

Is there an advantage to being in the middle of the country v the coast?
Surprised to hear people booking eclipse watching trips. (Not that I can't be convinced it would be a good experience)
Wouldn't mind an excuse to play PLO in KC or Cincinnati

Longest durations and best weather are in the middle.

Re: 2017! NC/LC THREAD -- Small Stakes, 40 years to Mars

Here's a good map: https://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEplot...2017Aug21T.GIF

Anyone in the dark blue area will see a total eclipse. Closer to the red star means longer, but the difference East or West is small. Only about 30% longer vs the west coast. How close you are to the center of the area makes a much bigger difference.

Anyone in the light blue area (quite large) will see a partial eclipse with the corresponding percentage of the sun blocked.

This one is nice too. You can click a spot on the map and it will give you all the stats on that spot.

Re: 2017! NC/LC THREAD -- Small Stakes, 40 years to Mars

I open CO w/ 5-5, button folds, SB calls, BB raises, I call, SB caps, BB and I call.

Flop: J-J-4. Checked to me, I bet, SB raises, BB calls, I call.

Turn: 5. Checked to me, I bet, SB raises, BB folds, I 3!, SB calls.

River: Q. c/b/c

I table and SB rolls over K-K w/ a mini-howl.

Prob be another 10 years before I spike the two outer at a time when I didn't know that I had to.

You didn't know you had to when SB check-raised the flop and BB called?

What I mean with 'didn't know that I had to' I'm talking about the spots where I 3-bet w/ QQ pre which flops the over-pair and I think I'm ahead but later find out that I was against a bigger pair and got lucky on the turn/river. That sort of thing.

This time I knew I needed to, ofc.

I wish that I could say that I play a highly stylized version of these songs, but the truth is that I'm really just trying to make it all the way through without ****ing it up too badly.

----

While on my way home from skiing last month, we stopped at the New Hampshire State Liquor Store complex on I93; yeah they put their liquor stores right on the highway. There was a baby grand piano there that any and all were welcome to play. I declined and still regret it. I've always wanted to play a grand piano and I finally had the chance. Oh well.

----

Oh good morning.

One of my piano-playing friends used to go to a local church and ask to use their piano, although she was non-religious. It worked out well, she got some practice in and the pastor (priest? It was an Episcopal church) got some entertainment.

It's way more fun when they only put in aggressive action when they're behind

Fish opens CO, I three bet AA SB he calls

A96sss I bet he calls

3 I bet he calls

6 I bet he raises I 3 bet he calls and throws his KQ disgustedly into the muck.

Re: 2017! NC/LC THREAD -- Small Stakes, 40 years to Mars

I had a fun hand yesterday where I limp along on button with Q6hh and flop comes QQ6 and it checks to the cutoff who bets and I snap-raise, field folds, and he flats; then he x/r and caps 4 turn and then x/c 3 river - all big bet street action in overs. And then I turned off my music and listened to him talk to the 7 seat about the hand for the next 15 minutes, saying how he couldn't possibly put me on a Q because I raised the flop.

Also, makes you wonder what kind of hand caps the turn out of position and then check-calls the river? Is that just to induce maximum pain when he rivers bigger full house? Turn card opened up a flush draw, so I guess he could have 6X of clubs but that's pretty LOL. I suppose if he thought I was leveling him that hand makes sense.

He missed a few bets on the flop or turn.
