5 handed due to players sitting out. No reads on villain since I just got must-moved.

CO open raises, I 3b TT OTB, CO calls

HU, 7.5 SB: J85
I cbet, CO xc

HU 4.5 BB: 8
CO x. Hero...

1. X or bet here?
2. If we bet and CO xr, do we call and call to SD?
3. If we bet and CO calls then donk bets a brick riv, do we call?

For sure bet.

Probably have to call a turn raise and hate it. I wouldn't pay off a generic villain at this limit here if he does raise the turn and bet a brick river.

15/30 is probably high enough to where someone might attempt a spazzy x/c x/c donk with a random AsX type hand as a bluff. So I'd call and not be happy about it.

Bet.

Should call a turn raise majority of the time if you're truly readless. OTR go for a live read. Certain types of players have a hard time continuing as a bluff or give off live tells if they are.

I'd probably fold non spade Aces, Kings, Queens, if villain bets. Not sure about a Jack unless villain is the type that can c/r a jack w/ a high spade. Call spades and feel ok about it. Call all other cards.

Well, yes, I don't think you'll want to hero fold this one. I guess if he donks a jack or an ace you could consider folding, but I'd still call and take a note.

I'm okay with checking behind here and calling a river bet regardless of what falls. But I guess this depends on how you feel about the generic player at your game. Would you expect a check-call on the flop with top pair on a monotone board or a check-raise? I think check-call is probably frequent enough that you can't reasonably rule out enough hands you're ahead of to make this a bet worth making.

I don't like the advice of betting the turn and calling a raise. The only way this makes sense is if you think check-raises here are incredibly rare. Because otherwise, you're kind of spending a lot of money for not a great return. You only make money when:

1) Villain has Ax/Kx.
2) The river is not a spade (which you'll pay off anyway).

Any other hand (other than total spaz hands) is ahead of yours when there's a turn check-raise. So you're going to put in 2 BB behind most of the time when you're check-raised. That's a pretty big deficit to make up unless you think it happens so rarely as to not have a major impact on the value you're trying to gain by betting the turn against Ax/Kx.

I like bet/call best though it feels gross. Bet/fold is way worse than check and hope to pick off river bluffs.

As always, your advice is solid.

I would never check this turn, we almost always have the best hand.

Bet is much better than check IMO.

Like everyone has said, its a fairly standard value-bet, especially because it is short-handed

9-handed vs an early open for example hero could checkback at a higher frequency because it would be vs a stronger range
