Why that?The good stuff was the internal database,was simple and light for anyone and any old computer.

Accurate information can be retrieved from the database. If the program uses the same information people can be sure the correct information is displayed and statistics other than what was provided initially by TM, can easily be incorporated by grabbing new information available in the database.
One other reason is that more sites can be supported, in essence all sites supported by PokerTracker could be supported by TM also...
No more hassle in updating how to parse different site information, ie handhistories. If it is available in the database TM should work.
