Simple GTO Trainer (Free Software) -- Practice GTO with customized drills and vs AI games

I'm excited to announce the free beta release of Simple GTO Trainer. SGT is the first program that lets you practice playing against GTO solutions that are computed by existing GTO solver software like Piosolver or Simplepostflop.

GTO Trainer is available for free download here: http://simplepoker.com/en/Solutions/Simple_GTO_Trainer

Simple GTO Trainer lets you take either our existing precomputed GTO solutions, or your own custom GTO solutions that you create using Piosolver of Simplepostflop and turn them into playable postflop AI opponents, or systematic drills where you repeatedly practice specific actions (eg c-betting or c-bet defense). SGT gives you real time feedback on specific hands as you play, while also automatically aggregating your training results and provided detailed feedback on your range composition and balance. This lets you quickly identify leaks like your check-raise range containing too many flush draws or your c-betting range not containing enough bluffs.

SGT makes it easy to directly and systematically apply GTO calculations to improve your game. For a detailed tutorial/overview of the software please check out the videos below.

Finally, please note, that SGT is current in free beta and we greatly appreciate any feedback on how we can make to software better. Please also note that the Piosolver integration is a bit limited at the moment, but we are working hard on it. Currently everything except for drill mode is working with Piosolver.

Hi, great software idea, played a bit with it, looks really cool and well designed. It keeps crashing a lot for me though, when i click "play" after choosing a training pack. Really looking forward to piosolver integration, you mentioned that custom games already work for pio, but i didnt find a way to import pio files.

Glad to hear you like the software! Unfortunately, I believe the crashing issue is due to a server overload from all the new users, we are working on a fix right now and I will post here once it is complete.

Regarding the Piosolver support, I don't use Pio myself (I always use SPF) so I need to double check with a friend on the current state of Pio support and exactly how the file importing works for that. I'll reply here soon.

Thanks for the feedback, it is very appreciated.

Ok, I believe the server issue is resolved, we got more usage than we expected last night and had to make some adjustments. If you try a training pack now it will not crash.

For the Pio integration, we are working through some issues and have a new test version with some bug fixes. We'd love to get your feedback on the fixes and to confirm that the new version works for you, so if you can email support@simplepostflop.com we'll get you a link to the test version right away and you should be able to start loading in Pio solutions.

If all goes well, then we'll make that version available to the public sometime next week.

Cheers!

Is it possible to load PIO cloud solutions into the GTO Trainer with the free version of PIOsolver?

Unfortunately, it is not possible, the Piosolver integration is based on the Pio API which they disable in the free version. Unless Pio decides to enable to API functionality it will not work.

If you still need piosolver users to try the new test version I'm up for it!

Or maybe it's to close to the public release of that version now?

We're hoping to get the next version with beta Pio support out and publicly available tomorrow. If you can't wait, email support@simplepostflop.com and we can set you up with access today , but tomorrows version will have some minor improvements.

The first version should be available within a month, although the initial version may have some limitations on bet sizing. From there we'll continue to expand the functionality.

Hi all,

We've pushed out the latest update which contains Pio support. If you relaunch the program it will auto-update.

Here are the release notes.
  1. PioSolver support has been added for Custom games in Regular mode. To use this you must:
    1. Go to the "Settings" tab and set you Pio Path
    2. Specify the timeout for waiting for a response from Pio (how long to let Pio run on turn and river component solutions)
    3. When adding a "Regular Training" in the "Custom Games" tab be sure to set the "Engine" to Pio in the "New Custom Solution" menu. Then for "Solution Directory" chose the folder with your Pio solutions (.cfr files)
    4. Basic, Edge and Pro versions are supported
  2. Training configurations can now be edited after they are created
  3. Clarified the action result table, it now shows: Played [%], Best EV Action [%]
  4. In drills, "Enter" is now a hotkey to submit your selected action
  5. Green text is now used for call and check bars for increased visibility
  6. A number minor bugs were fixed

Thank you all for the feedback so far and enjoy the update!

Hi,

I tried to use the new version with Pio and regular practice mode but got this when I get to a turn. It seems to connect and start solve but after solving stops it end up like in the picture bellow.

Do I need to use a specific version of Pio, saves of a specific type etc?

Hmm, I'm not sure what could cause that. To isolate the issue we'd need flop file to test it on our side. Can you send the Pio flop file to our support email: support@simplepoker.com or skype:SimplePoker?chat.

It's possible that a large .cfr file (particularly over 2GB) could cause an issue loading into memory so I'd recommend in general using Pio files that contain only the flop or only the flop and turn solutions. We mainly test with the latest stable version of Pio.

Anyways, please send over the file and we'll do our best to debug this asap.

Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience,

It seems like it crashes when PIO times out. By setting the timeout higher than it'll reach I no longer get the crash.

Hmm, that should raise an except that SGT would handle gracefully (by showing a popup notification) and *should* not result in a program crash (we just retested this and it seems to be working for us). We'll continue to look into this on our end, but if you don't mind sending the Pio file to support that would definitely be helpful. Thanks!

Drill games are only working with SPF or via Training packs at the moment, we have a few more kicks to work out with Pio on Drlls.

regarding Pio...: I'm getting the "ERROR: show_node missing/incorrect tree".

I tried it with a full save and a flop+turn save, but it should be working with both, right?

Also not sure what I've to put at the Pio Path directory. The Folder, the PioViever.exe or PioSOLVER-edge19AVX.exe?

I believe the most likely cause of this is that it is taking too long to load the Pio solutions into memory. GTO Trainer has to load the solution file into memory and depending on the file size this can be large. Are you using flop + turn saves only? I'd start by trying that. I'd also recommend increasing the timeout in the settings if the problem persists. Having an SSD hard drive also will help with this.

We recommend using the flop + turn save but either should work. PioSOLVER-edge19AVX.exe is correct file to point to.

Are you getting that error 100% of the time or just occasionally? Can you please send the Pio file that you are getting the error with to support@simplepoker.com so that we can debug this? I've never seen that specific error before.

Thanks!

I could load a postflop solution but the preflop solution don't work correctly for Pio.

Hi,

I've sent an email now with a PIO file and the title is: "SGT crash when PIO times out".

Some other feedback is that solving turns takes a lot of time for me and up to 35 seconds when I check back flop in a 50bb SRP HUNL sim. The river sims (when using flop+turn saves) are really fast but there seems to be some larger EV differences even between indifferent actions. Maybe tweaking it so it's possible to solver turns to lower accuracy and rivers to higher would be better, or be able to set accuracy? At least with HU ranges and 2.2 GHZ 4 core i7 CPU (laptop) it's a little too slow to solve turns and river accuracy is too low with 2-3 bet sizes for not producing EV mistakes with mixed hands.

For the beta SGT only does postflop training, we are looking into adding preflop in the future.

Having separate accuracy levels for each street is a very good idea. It is a lot faster than that with SPF, but that may just be due to solver speed, I'll need to investigate. Thank you for sending the Pio file, that should give us what we need to improve this.

I'm using flop+turn saves only, I set the time out to 60sec and my CFR files are only 30mb. I have an SSD and 16Gb of RAM. Still getting the same error.

That definitely should work then, can you please send one of the Pio .cfr files to support@simplepoker.com so we can debug.

Thanks and sorry for the hassle!
