Either this is nonsense or it's useless to edit GX.INI files at all. The other version is part of a theme using a specific GX.INI which (as you already mentioned) is only updated if a specific (official) theme needs an update which happens not very often and if, the modder will create a new INI. So, what's your problem? IMO it's not useless at all, otherwise I wouldn't take the trouble to program it?!

first of all preserving the iniīs is reserved to special releases of the tool which are only available if you buy an according mod. in that case not all iniīs are preserved. only one ini, the one which is used for the mod will be preserved from updating. in addition the tool will look at our servers for an up to date ini-file and install it so the tool does exactly what it should do and what we promise.

contrary to your installers on tiltbuster we offer automatic update features for our users so they donīt have to download their mods each time the pokerrooms make an update. new installers are necessary only in rare cases when core graphics need changes and our next generation installers donīt even need that.

as always bar... we are ahead in the competition.

hehe - wow - you guys are getting defensive over nothing.

If you want to advertise the tool as doing one thing, when in fact it is doing something else - feel free.

But so far all of the posts here have been from your own people being confused as to what the tool does.

Now you're saying the tool is going to be mod specific? That is a much different story. In that case the tool is not useless - just misrepresented in the description.

as always vvolf... you are full of yourself

Hm...

1) This thread is about the version which handles no INI files at all and I've just answered a question regarding a different version which does.

2) Those are not "my own people" just because they are selling mods on the same website like me. Everyone is responsible for his own posts, mods or whatever...

3) Not sure what you understand under INI modifications, but I did never say that it handles default or multiple INI files, what you've assumed and prejudged it as useless. However, if an INI is not working after an update, what has it to do with the tool? That's why I'm saying that it's exactly as useless as any INI modification.

...and I'm missing some kind of respect, because it was hard work to create these tools and I don't understand your problems with it. Listen, you are selling mods with GX.INI modifications without knowing if they will work after next update but you judge my tool as useless, isn't it ironic? If you are forced to play with the latest update, makes it still sense to edit the GX.INI at all? If the theme isn't working after update, will we need to update the INI or the tool? What is more useless? Honestly, I don't get the reason for this discussion. Maybe my english is not good enough to communicate...

Re: PokerStars Mod StartUp v1.02

Pelorojo,

I am sorry this got blown out of proportion.

Your tool is a good tool and people using mods should be happy that people like you put the effort into making tools like this.

My use of the word useless is probably what is causing the confusion.

The description says that the tool allows you to update and still keep your mods.

When the mention of the tool keeping gx.ini edits - I simply meant to point out (to users who might not know any better) - that it becomes something different than what is described as originally. There will be cases where the tool is not updating PokerStars as suggested.

It is still a very helpful tool, just different than described.

The reason this is important to me is that PokerStars has already shown that they are not comfortable with ini editing, so I think it is important to make sure they are handled accurately.

When a commercial modder like KuPoB_K posts that he needs a tool to help him avoid updates - and another commercial modder (yourself) publicly posts a tool that will address it - without proper explanation to the general public - it causes me concern for the integrity of ini mods.

I've helped all of you guys at one time or another - just trying to do so again. I'm sorry it got interpreted as hate.

No, not hate... it has no place here anyway. Your help was and is still appreciated. It's nothing personal at all anyway, but I guess you're right if you say the word "useless" caused some confusion... I guess, talking about a GX.INI version, too. Maybe I need to say that I won't publish a version which saves all mods with INI modifications from updates... for many reasons! It makes much more work than sense and all for free and with support? Nah!

Re: PokerStars Mod StartUp v1.02

you are still way out of proportion bar...

first of all you have no right to judge about pelos or kupobīs work in any way. use it or not, like it or not thatīs up to you but judging... no.

second... the tool offered in this thread does exactly what it says. it keeps the decks and the chips folder from beeing updated. no more no less.

itīs not pelos fault that for a simple custom deck you need to make changes to the gx.ini even as you could get the same result by image manipulation only.

third... you telling us what stars thinks and wants is kind of hilarious. you and the russians were responsible for the gx.ini desaster because you sold mods which manipulated config files other than the gx.ini. before telling others what they are responsible for you should care about your own responsibilities first.

pelos tool is a step into the right direction cause it keeps the integrity of the pokerstars client. whatīs the alternative? - bypassing the update?! - thatīs definitely not what stars wants and also not what the users want in their interest of game security and integrity.

Re: PokerStars Mod StartUp v1.02

Wow, this kind of exploded here a little bit!
Bar, i only wanted to ask pelo if he intends to make a tool which would allow a modified gx.ini not to be overridden by the client in the eventuality of stars commencing the "no update no play" rule much like FTP, or implementing this feature in the tool offered in this thread. He answered me and that's that.

I'll try and give you an example why i would find this sort of tool useful:
Lets say i have a theme which uses the Azure theme as a base and i have modified the gx.ini that corresponds to azure theme. Now every time stars decides to issue an update to that theme my (modified) gx.ini would get overridden. I don't really care what improvements they have made to azure theme because i don't use it. I only use the reference azure to have my mod instead of it. Obviously i couldn't care less what modifications stars are making to that theme but overriding my ini causes problems which the tool i asked for will take care of, without me having to do anything.

After having said all that, if i knew this would hijack the thread i would have never asked pelo publicly about his tool. I apologize for this.

Now let's try and keep this thread in line with the title.

Re: PokerStars Mod StartUp v1.02

hello Pelorojo,
I've been using your Mod for a long time only with chips. Recently I wanted a new deck, so I uninstalled the mod, pasted new deck, installed the mod and fired it up. The software immediately asked for update and my deck came back to default p* deck (my Bellagio chips remained intact).
Where do you think the problem is? The software becomes updated but my chips remain as they were, it's the deck that that keeps being restored to default. I have windows vista ultimate.

You don't need to deinstall Mod StartUp for changing cards and/or chips. Just install your mods and start the tool. But you should close all file explorer windows before.
